Well, see, in the gum there are vast colonies of little FlavourPeople. They are very, very tiny and they are all through the gum. Sadly, when you chew on the gum, you also chew the FlavourPeople. This releases short bursts of Flavour-ness, but it also squashes the people, thus killing them. When they're all dead, there is no more flavour.
