Sounds like a mystery novel. Could be kind of cool.
Firebrand
“We’re still here,” he says, his voice cold, his hands shaking. “We know how to be invisible, how to play dead. But at the end of the day, we are still here.” ~Dax
Teacher: "What do we do with adjectives in Spanish?"
S: "We eat them!"
It makes me think of someone going into something dangerous, but for a good cause or with excitement. So I think of an action story. I'm not sure. And maybe it's fantasy, too.
The Enemy Behind Barbed Wire
“It's necessary to have wished for death in order to know how good it is to live.” ― Alexandre Dumas, The Count of Monte Cristo
An introspective Holocaust short from the point of view of a German middle-class civilian. Very philosophical and stirring, with a lot of symbolism and universal values.
Intercept
"It's time to acknowledge the inevitable. Stifle your pride and embrace the glory of change." - Volrath Ishnikar, the Faithless General
Well the first word sounds forgen, but the second makes it sound like a person dealing with events. I might buy it, if the blurb was good.
Loose Ends
*Don't expect to see me around much in the next couple of weeks. School has started again, and it'll be a couple of weeks before I've settled in. If you've asked me for a critique, you will get it, but not for a little while. Sorry*
It makes me think of the phrase "tie up the loose ends" which is probably your intention. I think it would be about the story of people picking up after some tragedy, maybe the death of an important family figurehead, or a natural disaster, or something else all together, but it shows the story after the event, and how everything is being fixed afterward.
The Enemy Behind Barbed Wire
“It's necessary to have wished for death in order to know how good it is to live.” ― Alexandre Dumas, The Count of Monte Cristo
Something to the effect of political prisoners or the perceived "enemy" in prison... knowing you, Suz, probably Holocaust-related. I'd pick it up just to learn more.
Dirt in My Own Grave
"2-4-6-8! I like to delegate!" -Meshugenah "Teague: Stomping on your dreams since 1992." -Sachiko "So I'm looking at FLT and am reminded of a sandwich." -Jabber
Hmmmmmm. That sounds like back in the day when the settlers were rounding up the Indians in the west. It would be a story through the eyes of the Indian being "relocated," or whatever the settlers called it. I'd pick it up if the blurb was good.
Til Death do us Part
Alcohol, Tobacco, & Firearms should be a convenience store, not a government agency.
A one-worder? For some reason, I'm already thinking of a horror piece, in which case "The Park" would be better, I think. Or maybe a guy named Park? I'm not sure. I'd read the blurb, just to understand what it's about. With me, it always comes down to the blurb.
The most important thing is to preserve the world we live in. Unless people understand and learn about our world, habitats, and animals, they won't understand that if we don't protect those habitats, we'll eventually destroy ourselves. — Jack Hanna
