RP Blitz Tavern

This thread is a casual space for all RP Blitz parties to share updates, brainstorm Blitzia lore, and gather for official write-ins. This is also where we'll be posting each edition of the Blitz Bulletin, an review of progress across parties.

Since all our stories take place in the same world, it's exciting to imagine what kind of crossovers might exist between stories and lore - this space is for those kinds of things, too:

"My sorcerer character doesn't remember who her real family is. Any middle-aged characters out there want a long-lost daughter who despise the king for taking her away?"

Even if these kinds of connections aren't explicitly established over the course of RP Blitz, you are free to pursue Blitz spinoff RPs on your own, or flesh that out in Round II!

Hiya Keepers of Vediatha @winterwolf0100 and co. (I don't want to ping all of you haha)

I was lorebuilding and was thinking that the current King's palace in Ebony (The Sterling Palace) was once a magical academy prior to Vediatha, but the Sorcerers moved from Ebony to avoid the political movement as Ebony got more and more popular. Thoughts?

Hi, @Omni, great question! Since there are magic users who are kidnapped specifically to go to the Academy in Vediatha, I'd say that unfortunately probably doesn't make much sense. The Academy in Vediatha specifically is extremely into politics, since the initial lore post when Blitzia dropped says, "Of late, all students are enrolled in a class that enforces Loyalist beliefs."

Because of that, I don't think it would make sense for there to have been another magical academy that was abandoned to avoid the political movement of Ebony. Most professors at the Academy are staunchly pro-King Rhys, or hiding it for their lives. Sorry!!

edit: would you still be accepting of it being an older magical academy before sorcerers moved to Vediatha? Just not for political reasons? Or, no? I can separate it from Vediatha completely, do not want to tred on your ideas

I think I would prefer that it weren't older than Vediatha, since I think a lot of the culture and history of Vediatha is rooted in pride in the Academy. It could be though that the two started around the same time, and eventually the monarchy ordered all those magic users to join Vediatha so they could keep them all in one place, which matches up with the lore of people being kidnapped and taken to Vediatha? A way to control and know where all the magic users are?

It's been just over a week since parties were announced, and already I have much to report.

In case you missed it...
The lore compendium has received several updates! If your roleplay happens to allude to the royal family in any way, we now have character profiles built out for King Rhys, Queen Myrra, and Prince Nolan. The region of Ebony has been fleshed out with details on its prison and palace, and Blitzia's religious history has more context with the addition of a fire-centric set of beliefs called Solkiln. Read more and add your own lore here!

Ebony Excellence
The Exiles of Ebony, mindful of LMS duties and vacation time, have already submitted their outline. While I'm still partial to the soup outline example I provided all DMs, the Exiles have delivered a prime example of what a post-by-post Storybook outline can look like. What makes an outline like this especially great is that while one writer is chipping away at the next post, the other writers aren't stuck until it's finished; the outline is detailed enough that everyone has a good idea of what they need to work on at all times. With a time-sensitive challenge like Blitz, a system like this is golden! Literally golden, if it means you earn a gold username... <.<

We've got our first Blitz RP thread out, too! Be sure to check out the impishly-titled Long Live the King, a "fast-paced action heist and assassination" adventure by the Exiles, starting July 1st!

Meanwhile, across Blitzia...
In Vediatha, the plots of dragon riders are brewing, while in Whitehook, precious cargo arrives - why is it moving?? Across the Sea of Serpents, on Eider Isle, there's whispers of piracy, while down south in Claymeadow, the desperate seek answers buried in Ignia's rubble. All the while, servants in Onyx are tied up in a royal conundrum, and a search party in Redwind uncover a spaceship in the mountains.

Welcome back, Travelers! Over the past week, we've watched parties build and expand on their original stories. Characters are coming to life, plots are beginning to intertwine, and outlines are being worked on. Now comes one of the most exciting parts of Blitz-- taking what you've created and turning it into something palpable and real! In this addition of the Blitz Bulletin, we will reveal the Blitz Bard Badge and go over some character additions!

Lore is expanding throughout Blitzia...
Each party has been working diligently to finalize their outlines, and along with that -- their own lore to go along with their stories. The region of Vediatha is almost done with creating Blitz's dragon species, Ebony's Kingdom is well-established, and a sea serpent sits in Whitehook's northern seas.

If your party has developed any important lore that you'd like other parties to familiarize themselves with, please don't forget to post it in the Blitzia Lore Compendium as parties finalize their outlines!


Plot outlines are due in just a few days, on June 30th, and Roleplay Blitz officially starts on July 1st! Don't worry if you don't have an outline by the deadline. You can submit it at any time, as Blitz is not a competition. Unfortunately, you just won't earn the Bard Badge!

When you post your outline in your parties' OOC, please tag me, DungeonMaster, so I can log that you've earned the badge.

Personalities and motives are developing across the lands...
Each party has been brainstorming characters, and some have even been finalized and added to their roleplay's sidebar. Ebony has submitted their four characters: Aleksina (a former rogue assassin), Ludivine (a former royal agent), Samaan (a soundwave mage for Ebony's Keep), and Magessa (a former favored Court fool).

Over in Claymeadow, one character has been submitted: Faris (a tough horse trader, hardened by distrust of outsiders). Other characters are brewing in the dry region, hinting at a wild expedition.

Though no other characters have officially been submitted to their respective threads, progress is evident in each of the parties' pads...

Blitz Bard Badges...

Congratulations to all our courageous Travelers who earned the Blitz Bard badge for submitting an outline before July 1st. Badges have now been rewarded. If anyone is missing the badge but completed it, please let one of the roleplay moderators know! All parties except Whispers of Whitehook earned the badge on time, but due to some party shuffling, you still have a chance to earn it with an extended deadline.

Over the past week, several pieces of Blitzia lore have dropped in the Blitzia Lore Compendium. Whether you want to know more about the dragon species that pair with dragon riders, Vediatha and its culture, or how timekeeping works, there is useful information for anybody and everybody in this encyclopedia of knowledge!
