Apricity! I love this NaPo idea! There's something so intimate and vulnerable about hand writing poetry, and I like how this complements the theme of love in your first poem. Using sun/light/summer to compare this feeling is perfect, especially with a tomato's "lingering sweetness" mimicking that of a kiss. So beautiful and excited to read more!
Eee! So fun! I love this concept- can't wait to see more of it through the month!
"I've got dreams like you--no really!--just much less, touchy-feeley. They mainly happen somewhere warm and sunny on an island that I own, tanned and rested and alone surrounded by enormous piles of money." -Flynn Rider, Tangled
Ooh this is so interesting! I like the elegance of the imagery - it focuses on all things associated with the tomato (sun, summer, acidity) and then ends with a contrasting "hollowing . . . out". I also like that you went for taste/touch rather than sight in describing the tomato.
this is such a refreshing, lovely idea for napo! I'm loving how I can see the influences of working in hospitality in this poem, even as you approach summer / love. I can't wait to see more - wishing you a great napo season!
In a shadow there is the blessing of a shadow. — Kuki Shūzō
Ah @Apricity! I always look forward to your poetry! Your first poem here packs a punch and I do hope you return to bring us some more - there is truly something that feels so "organic" about poems written in notes-apps or handwritten on paper like they are more lived / written "in the moment" - I see you wrote it on the back of a tomato label? package? too so the subject is very fitting. The way the poem goes from describing a tomato, to a person, to themselves and then how it all fits together is so nice - it's one of those poems you read once and then have to read again to appreciate it more after you get to the end.
you should know i am a time traveler & there is no season as achingly temporary as now
