Mike views Sin as a parent—mostly just biologically, but also emotionally as well. They aren’t exactly close anymore, but that’s because they’re not allowed to be; ever since he gained sentience, Mike is not connected to her anymore and doesn’t have any way to see her. But he wants to. He wants to see his mom again; her thousand twinkling stars in the sky, her infinite spirals dancing across the sky. He wants to hear her voice again, to be pat on the head, to be told she loves her son. And, furthermore, he remembers having some kind of familial bond with the other entities? (His memory of pre-sentience is fuzzy). He wants to be apart of something.

He wants something like the relationship Appel has with God—someone to watch over him, to love him unconditionally for all of eternity. Except… Sin is the direct opposite of God, and doesn’t want the best for Mike (or rather, she wants what she thinks is best). Sin would probably try to coax Mike to come back to the dark side—to come back to her…. Yet, he can’t help but idealize what their reunion must be like.

Sometimes, he looks out of Appel’s window and hopes to see Sin’s stars… but he never does. He only sees the Great Big Star that loves everybody except him (God).
