Ky gave it a few moments, then settled back into her pillows and closed her eyes, intending just to rest them for a moment. But she was out cold within minutes.

By the time Ky stirred naturally, the soup was cold. She sheepishly glanced over at it, feeling guilty, and pushed herself up. How bratty of her -- to demand food, then fall asleep and not even eat it. Oh well. She'd eat it now. She grabbed the soup and started to ladle it into her mouth.

The soup was grainy and offputting cold, but Ky forced herself to eat the entire bowlful. Every time her stomach clenched, she reminded herself what this was for: to see her Mother again. Raina. The boys. Anneliese. This soup wasn't for enjoyment, it was for a purpose. So she plowed onward.

"Fine," Ky answered reflexively, but then took a moment to actually consider the question. She stretched. "...Stiff... and my head hurts."

Sera nodded and went to her herb cabinet. "I'll get you something for that. Sore throat and runny nose at all?"

She took out two sets of herbs and cut bits from each, mashing them into a poultice and then spooning them up on a scrap of wood, which she offered to Ky. "Eat this."

“…oh.” She didn’t actually know what those were; why had she asked? She needed to just obey. She forced herself to take a deep breath then hold it and swallowed the concoction with a grimace.
