She shook her head. “He lied to me.” More bitterness crept into her voice than she meant as she glanced over at him. “I’d have gone on horseback if I’d known. So I could head him off. And carry him back.”

Ky thought for a moment, then shook her head. "No." The last time she'd tried talking to someone, he tried to kill himself. Why would she inflict herself on anyone else? Especially now, knowing she was sad and hungry and sore? No. Best to just recover. Then figure out how to get home. The more she thought about it, the more she was sure it was the right move. She could get Ronn to escort her back. Or... well... she had a sword and knew how to use it. She could build fires; steal food. She'd survived this long -- she could survive the trip back home. At least long enough to hug her Mother again.
