Pining: Immortal and Multiverse Edition

WARNING: Spoilers for LMS VI: Something about Monsters ahead. You have been warned. (Looking at you, Mint. Get out of here.)

When Time (the being, mortals, not the clock on your wall) takes notice of someone who seems to be in the wrong state at the wrong time (that one's the clock on your wall), what else can they do but step in to make sure the flow of time is smooth? And what else can they do but drag in their best friend, Death, to investigate? But once things escalate from just Life's petty drop-ins, it's clear Time, Death, and this out of place girl are involved in something a lot bigger than just one universe. And it's up to them to unravel it.

Time was just doing their job, thank you very much, when a sharp pain shot through their temple. There was something wrong, lurking just within the constant hum of information flowing through their mind. They gently closed the laptop they had been working on, and focused, peeling back the layer between their focus on this moment and the sea of everything they knew.

Which was everything. Time generally knew everything.

What they found was absolutely awful. A girl. A girl older than the time she had spent on Earth. That didn’t make sense. How could that have possibly happened?

They groaned, standing up from their desk. They were calling Death and they were going to fix this.

Susie looked around warily. Her surroundings were...normal. Normal..ish that is. Everything about it seemed like a random park in the middle of nowhere. It wouldn't be the first time she'd ended up in a place like this with no warning. But, something was wrong. It didn't feel right.

A few moments later, Time, this time with Death in tow, stepped down in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the girl just in front of them. They leaned towards Death. “Here’s the plan, we walk alongside her, have her step into a pocket dimension. Sound good?”

Death nodded.

Time cleared their throat and approached the girl. “Hello, Miss.”

Susan whirled around. "Uhh...hello?"

Death smiled and waved. Time stepped even closer, now standing by her side. “You look to be from out of town. Where are you from?”

"I...uh..." Susie stuttered, trying to figure out how best to break the fact that she was not from a town.

Time and Death both waited patiently for her to respond.

"Down..under."

Time hummed. “Australia? You don’t have an accent, but who am I to judge? So, when did you arrive in town?”

"N..Not...Australia."

Time hummed. “Oh? Then where?”

"F...further do..down."

Time hummed. “I see…” They tried to see what exactly this girl meant, but they couldn’t. It was like their awareness kept butting against a wall.

Death, however, seemed to be on to something. Sorry. But do you mean… the underworld?

Susie nodded.
