"I saw what happened. I suppose I could go there, if you wish. I think you should tell Ash at least. And your father."

Ky grimaced but dipped her head. “It… might be helpful if you came, then. He can… be a little…… intense.”

"I will, then. But he'll have to invite me; it'd be rude otherwise."

“Can’t I just invite you?” Ky asked. “It feels silly to go ask him to invite you and then him have to send someone else back to invite you tonight. It’s Gaius. You know he’s going to want to know more about the gods and ghosts.”

"Oh I've no doubt he'd accept me in. But that's not how things are done here."

Ky sighed. “Alright, then. I’ll ask him to invite you, then.”

“Okay.” She nodded, then glanced over her shoulder back at the horses. “That should come in a few hours, then, I would expect.”

The last thing Ky wanted to do was to tell Gaius about the madness that had happened in the village. But she’d promised Myna an invitation, and it felt terribly rude to go back on said promise. So she decides to suck it up and go to his office shortly after they returned. She hesitantly knocked on the door, the thump weak and pitiful. Not at all confident.

"Come in, Ky." Gaius knew that knock by now. He was seated at his desk poring over a letter from his general; things were going as expected--slow with a few skirmishes near the border.

Ky froze, alarmed he knew it was her. How? She briefly thought maybe he had some sort of contraption to be able to see in the hall, but dismissed it because that would risk people being able to see in and spy on him as well, and it was Gaius. She then briefly considered the mind reading theory from before but dismissed it as well. Whatever. She took a deep breath and opened the door, glancing around to be sure the room was empty, then glancing at him. “…Hi.”

“Um…” she sidled in and shut the door behind her, fidgeting. How was she supposed to approach this? Gods. She’d come up with a script and yet now she forgot it entirely. “Do—uh—so— um… can you… invite Myna to come here tomorrow?”
