"What is a cu-sith?" they asked with a frown. "And where did it go?"
"Inter moi muth," Unna replied.
"Unna here ate it," Tove translated.

(Wish I knew middle English because she'd absolutely be speaking that instead)

Aeron nodded in agreement, glancing at Unna. “Which we still appreciate. A lot.”

She dipped her head. "E wurr roit pesky, atin' thum por dairs roit orf moi ed."
"What is she, again?" Beck took several steps back.

"They're annoying for sure," Aeron agreed with a nod, then glanced at Beck. "Troll."

"Troll?" They were deathly pale. "...Don't trolls eat people?"
"Northern trolls do," Tove corrected. "Southern ones eat everything else."

Aeron chuckled good-naturedly.

"And is she..."
"She is a Southern troll, yes."

"Obviously," Aeron commented. "We wouldn't be standing here hanging around waiting to become the next snack if Miss Unna meant us any harm."

"..." Beck looked back at the pool. "But what are you two doing here?"

"Killing the cu-sith." He shrugged, glancing at the pool as well. "And rescuing your ass, apparently."

"I didn't know it would be here," they pointed out, looking back toward Unna. "I...I owe you all my life, it seems. Thank you--I'm in your debt."

Aeron shrugged. "We don't want your life; just stay inside in the future, okay? These ain't woods you go wandering around at night if you ain't got magic."

Beck chuckled nervously. "I'm afraid I'm not really built to be a shut-in."
"You don't say," Tove said dryly.

Aeron 'tsked'.

"Are there any...safer areas than this forest where I might conduct my studies?"
"The thing about the countryside," Tove said with a sigh, "is that it's chock full of faeries."
