Ky had grudgingly gone to lunch and dinner — being sure that Gaius acknowledged her empty plate at the end of each to be sure he knew she was fulfilling her promise to eat and be a better daughter so he could tell Tomhas so Tomhas wouldn’t want to send back to Makata. Hopefully. And trained with Captain Bay. But otherwise spent the rest of the day in her room, giving up on the whole gambit of being out in public sight. Too much of that. Too many emotions.
But now it was — finally — night time. So she bundled up, ready for her meeting with Rönn. She put on an extra layer of coats in hopes he wouldn’t notice how much weight she’d lost since he left, then headed downstairs.

Rönn was waiting in his usual place, finishing off the deer Gaius had had thrown over for him. He was eager to see Ky and tell her he'd done well; he was proud of himself.

(Ahh fair I thought about it the instant I hit send but wasn’t sure; does that edit work? I feel like she’d pick someone, Sera or Sara would be next in line lol she’s just anxiously wanting to prove her compliance to *someone* who Tomhas trusts)
Ky hurried across the courtyard and let herself out of the wall, though she hesitated right by the doorway to let her eyes adjust and get a feel for what might be around. She wanted to be sure Rönn was there and nothing else was.

He turned as he heard the door open, ears pricking up. "Ky?" he whispered, taking a step forward.

“Rönn!” She grinned, one of the few genuine ones she’d had since she left home and started towards him eagerly.

He held his arms out for a hug, grinning as best he good. "You look thin, how you feel?"

“That’s g—“ Ky pulled away, her entire expression falling as she saw the cuts on his neck. “What happened?!”

He looked down at himself, tensing at her reaction. "It not so bad," he said with a guilty shrug. "Stupid person get scared, stab me. But I not kill. I remember no killing."

“That…” she wanted to praise him; she was a big fan of positive reinforcement. But she couldn’t bring herself to say anything at all about that was ‘good’. She looked at him helplessly for a long moment, eyes fixated on the scabs. How terrible. He might have died if he’d been able to. She was horrified and angry and stricken with grief all at once. All because someone was stupid and tried to hurt her friend. Did hurt her friend. It was horrible. “Hold on.” She turned back towards the Keep quickly. “I’ll be back.”
(Imagine if he just didn’t come up between Ky and Jer and then randomly the two of them are hanging out one night and Rönn gets all Dad Mode Overprotective on Jer because she’s physically close to Ky lol)

She turned back towards him with a worried brow. “Are you sure? I can get you medicine to help it feel better, like your feet. You shouldn’t have to be sore.”
