“Okay.” Ky nodded, taking a step away. “See you then.” She supposed she would have to find something to do now. She’d have to go to meals while he was here; that wasn’t really optional. And he’d probably ask what she’d ended up doing, so she needed to have something to tell him.

Ky watched him go, then sighed and leaned against the wall. She needed to find something to do. Preferably something that involved witnesses — ideally those who would be at dinner — who could attest to her truthfulness. But what? And who? She didn’t feel like dealing with Emery again. And she wasn’t sure anyone else would be any better.
