Ky had settled down in one of the overstuffed chairs near the back of the library, reveling in the wonderful natural light that poured in through the massive windows on the wall behind her and overhead. She'd temporarily abandoned the folktales in favor of flipping through the botany book to look up the flowers she'd been told about the night before.

Constance entered the library and went in search of the botanical section at Gaius's recommendation. She was alone and dressed cozily, but she'd just come from a war meeting and was feeling quite down.

The flowers really were so lovely. Ky was taking her good old-fashioned time looking at each and every one in sequence, looking up the ones mentioned at dinner first, but then getting distracted by others and ending up deep down a rabbit hole of perennials.

She ended up in the back but didn't notice Ky just yet, browsing some of the books on a shelf some distance away.

Ky glanced up, tensing as she saw her, ready to stand up respectfully. But. Well. She didn't seem to be aware Ky was there, which Ky wasn't sure whether was worse or better. She didn't want to force Lady Constance to acknowledge her presence -- which is what greeting her would do. But she also damn sure didn't want to appear disrespectful.
And...

Ky quietly stood up, closing the book and folding her hands in front of herself respectfully. She glanced around for Emery to see if he'd give her a hint of how she was to behave; she was still getting a feel for these new nobles. Didn't want to get herself into trouble.

Constance turned as Ky stood, and she grinned in surprise. "Oh, hello Ky! How are you today?" Emery had his nose buried in a book on the other side of the room, giving Ky space.

“I’m well.” Ky smiled and bobbed her head respectfully. “And you, ma’am?”

"A bit tired, to be frank." She smiled slightly. "War meetings take it out of you. I adore Gaius and Tomhas, but they have very different ways of doing things."

“Please!” Ky gestured invitingly towards the chairs, entirely uncertain if this was a request to join her or a polite way of telling her to get lost. “By all means.”

"Thank you!" Constance settled herself into one of the generous armchairs near Ky, sighing heavily. "Goodness, I needed that. These chairs are built for someone to fall asleep in, aren't they?"
