"And how do you intend to keep yourself from being infected?"

"I've developed an immunity to most of the more common viruses through other experiments in my past."

"You'll need to undergo testing, even so," she replied. "We can't have you taking a contagious virus and just running off with it."

"Of course," he dipped his head. "What would testing entail in this case?"

"We'd need to take samples from you."

"That's no problem at all."

"Follow me, then." She rose and exited the office.

He followed.

"What brings you to this town specifically?" she asked him as they walked.

"It was simply the nearest city large enough to have a significant outbreak when the idea to spread the cure through a virus came to me. I have been doing a lot of traveling lately, you see. Searching out knowledge and resources and such."

"This is a village," she said dryly. "A small one."

"A small one surrounded by singular farmhouses and communities of one or two families," he agreed.

"You're not associating with the sorcerer down the road?" she asked. "Best steer clear of him."

"I am aware of that." He really did have to get rid of that man, possibly sooner than later.

"Good. He's a danger to everyone; came in here two years back with the biggest pustules you ever saw growing on his eyebrows and hand. I always said sorcery was a messy business."
