"Was an appointment made with the matron?" They looked him up and down.
"The Imperial need for control is so desperate because it is so unnatural. Tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle. Oppression is the mask of fear. Remember that." -Karis Nemik
"No, I'm afraid I'm from out of town. I'm only passing through. My research requires space for the safety of the public, I only need a sample of a virus and I will be on my way."
"These illnesses are extremely contagious," the doctor replied warily. "What is the nature of this research?"

"I have constructed a workable cure for the darkness, which also harms the demons that spread it. I am attempting to attach it to a virus, which I will modify to effect the demons, who can then spread it, effectively poisoning the poison. If you have anyone here suffering from shadow sickness I can demonstrate the cure," he offered.
The doctor studied him for a moment, then gestured for him to follow. "I think you'd better come with me."

They led him down the hall toward a small, cramped office where another doctor bearing the red stripe of matron was working busily. She looked up. "Yes?" "This gentleman has come here for research," the doctor informed her. "Research regarding demons and shadow sickness. He says he has a cure."
"The Imperial need for control is so desperate because it is so unnatural. Tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle. Oppression is the mask of fear. Remember that." -Karis Nemik
The matron tilted her head. "Can you produce this cure?"

He reached into his cloak and pulled out a vial of the cure. "It has been tested many times, and not once have I seen it fail to improve the patients condition. This amount may not be able to fully cure a particularly bad case, but I can retrieve more if it's needed."
"We have several patients who arrived here from the broken lands," the matron said grimly. "Most of whom are on death's door. What did you come here for?"
"The Imperial need for control is so desperate because it is so unnatural. Tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle. Oppression is the mask of fear. Remember that." -Karis Nemik
"I need a sample of a virus which I can modify to effect only demonkind. I will bind the cure to this virus and allow the demons to poison themselves and heal the land when their infected bodies become one with it."
"Sounds ambitious." She rose from her desk. "How do you plan to extract this virus?"

"The plan was to take mucus samples from an infected patient and take it somewhere isolated where no one is at risk while I isolate the virus using targeted spellwork and rainrot to dissolve the human genetic material while leaving the virus intact. I would then work to mutate it to attack the samples of living demonic flesh I have stored in my lab."
