Ky’s interest was piqued. Any job that paid ‘very, very well’ was one that she needed to keep at the very forefront of her radar. That’s what she needed to do — whether she liked the job or not. To be able to take care…
She flushed as her brain finally caught up to her thoughts. She was thinking like a peasant. Again. Tomhas and Anneke didn’t need her to take care of them. No one needed her anymore. They were wealthy enough to be the ones to pay someone very well, rather than the ones needing to be paid.
And they probably all hated what a gremlin she was, constantly thinking about money and pretending that she could take care of them. Just marinating in her own greed. She hoped they didn’t think she was using them for their money — because she definitely wasn’t. At least, she didn’t mean to be. But she had such a compulsive need to think about cost and money and ensure that there’d be enough for everyone that probably made her look superficial. And she hated that about herself. But didn’t know how to fix it.
Instead, she tried to focus on a safer aspect of the ravens.
“Do they take a bunch of maintaining?”
