Ky nodded and poured the wax onto Oscar’s letter and sealed it. It was her best attempt yet, if not particularly pretty. She stared down at it for a long moment trying to decide if it was good enough or if she should start fresh and draw him another picture.

She forced a smile and nodded, biting back the urge to ask Sara to do it for her again. She did Peter’s and Anneliese’s next, marginally improving each time. But stopped before she got to Tomhas and Anneke’s letter. She stared at it in dread. This was it. The worst part.

Sara waited, hands clasped patiently behind her back.

Ky let out a silent sigh, bracing herself, and hesitantly sealed it. She pulled the seal away and stared down at it. It was her best one yet. But it wasn’t perfect. It was lopsided, right of center. And the seal was twisted slightly to the left making it crooked. It was awful. Her brow creased as self-loathing dumped into her. “…I should write a new letter.”
She clearly couldn’t send this one now.
