She looked between them, having no idea what was going on, so she offered an awkward grin and leaned into his arm.

Zander’s eyes flicked towards her, then back to Ivar. “She’s planning to return home with you?”

He nodded. "I asked. Rickard said she said yes. There is nothing left for her in the East, and she may have children again if my sons and daughter find her worthy, which they will."

That was good that he’d asked. Ivar gave off vibes of a man who was used to being obeyed, which may be fine for an authority figure, but maybe less good for obtaining consent. But he had. Which was good. “I’m happy for you both.”

Zander smiled a bit. At least a single good thing had come of this for them. Although he couldn’t imagine becoming romantically involved with a woman you couldn’t speak to. He wanted at least a rudimentary knowledge of their language before he became sexually involved, much less thinking about bringing her home to the kids. But. Whatever worked for them.
