Ky didn't understand what he said, but since he'd echoed the 'good' she figured that meant he was agreeing, so she nodded.

Ky looked at him for a moment, trying to guess what he was asking. She made out 'what' and 'you' and thought for a moment, before putting together that he was likely asking what she was doing since she'd just asked them the same question.
"Um..." How did she answer that? She held her left hand down at her hip like she was holding a sheath in place, then mimed pulling a sword from it with her right. "Sword." She pointed in the direction of the barracks, then back at herself. "Learn."

Ivar frowned at her, confused, and looked to May. "You're learning to fight?" May guessed.

(I've lived in Ohio and now I live right on the edge of tornado alley so watches have been common, but this is one of the few warnings we've all taken seriously. The tornado that just disappeared had us right in its path but there's another one ten miles out)

I grew up in WV and it's too hilly there to have tornados lol like there was a singular one when I was in high school and we were all very confused about what was happening and there were no alarms or anything haha now I live in Oklahoma and @_@ goodness gracious they just appear all willy nilly)
"Good." Ky nodded, forcing herself not to think too hard about the question. That was future-Ky's problem. "It's going to be a tough choice -- I've got three excellent options to pick from."

Ky took a deep breath, wishing she had the words to explain herself to Ivar, but she didn't. So instead she settled for another awkward nod.

He shifted from foot to foot, looking again at May. She looked back at him, making no effort to recommunicate what Ky had said.

(Coast! I'm moving to Maryland to be a Fisheries Technician... pretty pumped for it! It's only a job through the spring and summer then gotta come back to my PhD ;-; but it should be fun! That's what my nasty comic sans training PPT was for that I was whining about lol)
Ky looked between them, feeling awkward. Should she try to keep the conversation going? Or take her leave? On one hand, it was nice that May was speaking. It seemed small groups were more conducive to getting her to open up, which Ky understood completely. She'd need to keep that in mind. But on the other, she didn't want to get tiresome already. "I'm glad I ran into you both. It's been nice talking."
