Oh hey, speaking of Dracula! I've actually been reading that through a really cool website. This one guy sorted all of the chapters by dates and is sending them on the dates they were written. It's called Dracula Daily and I've seriously been enjoying it.

(especially since Tumblr is obsessed with it and has been making some pretty high quality memes for it)

That sounds interesting.

I´ve read Dracula some years ago and I have to say, that there is clearly a difference in depicting creatures such as vampires back then and nowadays. I wouldn´t say that Dracula itself is a horror story nowadays, more a script of subconscious instincts and fears shaped by the Christian-dominant life at the time. Just like Frankenstein which was back then probably horrific (think about creating a human from dead body parts, doing the job of a God, etc...) and nowadays it's more psychological evidence of the halo effect...

I watched the movie version of Dracula... I have the book, as well as Frankenstein but I am currently reading another book... so no spoilers! But... yeah... I think a lot of fear was based on the fact that most people were taught to be infinitely afraid of God and so this 'heresy' would have really freaked them out, especially the fact that there is a slight sexual undertone when it comes to the portrayal of 'vampires' by Bram Stoker.

Today I burnt some things in the garden. It was fun until it started to rain...

What ritual was this for? I know it ended in smoke…

Just burning things like paper and cardboard stuff. It´s still allowed where I live to burn things in the garden.

Better than throwing it away where it gets burned. So I can also grill something for the dogs.

You could start compost? My parents don't want to but I want to when I'm older. The fumes from a fire are not good for the atmosphere.

We have a place to put the compost, but we don´t put paper or cardboard there. Only food and things like that. Dead bodies of the ones that I haven´t completely eaten.

Okay... that's good to hear. Why don't you put the paper and cardboard there? Naturally... it's always trouble taking those to the dump...

Because the fox doesn´t like that. And the paper/cardboard is usually used (like printed on, etc... We don´t put serviettes in the compost either.
