I only studied because that's how it turned out. The diploma had no value because so many didn't achieve it before, so the exams were so easy that anyone could do it. The ministry simply did the wrong thing instead of making other changes. I also learned much more outside than in school, except for "basics".
For example, I see languages as a problem. Most people don't know any foreign language, I grew up with English and French (and Latin), but the school doesn't give any incentive to go deeper into the language, except for this basic knowledge. When I first did an internship in France, I thought I was prepared and I fell in at the deep end. It took me a long time to learn everyday words.
I am not great at languages, and I'm pretty sure that's probably because of the environment I was in when attempting to learn it. Still not great at them, either.

I´ve got into languages because I went to school in a country with three official languages, so from the first year on, we had German and French.
But there should be a global school system that is above culture and religion for every country for the first years, and like from 6th class onwards, it would go deeper into the different culture and religions, so that there is a basic that is the same for everybody and afterwards you go deeper into your own region, which maybe would create a bigger understanding of the environment and the world.
But I know there are people now raising their voices saying that´s communism.
I think as with anything, there will be problems and people who don't like it, but if we all bury our differences and focus on what we all share - no matter what gender you are, what religion or culture you have - we could finally show that the earth is one common union. I think that would not only help us bury some conflicts, but would also be good for the environment.
Maybe one day, people will think that way, but hopefully not when it´s too late.
