Does anyone else want to submit a character profile?

Let me think about it. Remind me if I don't reply within the next few days. A military or pirate character sounds interesting, though I can't really say I've written many of those types.

Artemus has a Robin Hood-ish only-attack-corporate-scum thing, and there is supposed to be a pirate lord (mostly because that's an awesome title), but there's no real pirate organization. People obey the Pirate Lord, but he doesn't really give orders. Anyway, your pirate doesn't have to have a moral compass. I mean, kind of the good guys, but they can also be mercenaries working for...whoever it is mercenaries work for. I guess what I want to say is, the sky's the limit on everyone's characters. Literally.

If anyone wants to be part of a corporation or faction, they can just come up with a name.

I wouldn't be surprised if their was a rebel group, so go for it. And, like I said, pirate doesn't necessarily mean anti-corporation. Some work as mercenaries, but others do oppose the factions.

Geomancy seems like a strange choice for a sky pirate, but that's okay.

He he--but it would add some variety. I suspect many pirates can do air magic.
I could have my character be part of a "revolutionary" group comprised of the poor and criminals who are angry, really angry at the rich politicians and corporations (this is deja vu if you've taken a history class). Because of her connections, she can hire pirates as mercenaries you know. Hopefully no god-modding?
So what's the difference between a mage and someone who can tap into the æther?
EDIT: Oh wait, aether people are the mages. Yes? Also, I'd love if you told me more about how alchemy works in this SB, since I don't know much about it.
(And I will join. I will try to get a CP up this weekend.)

Basically, yeah. Æther powers magic, as well as futuristic technology, like the Clockwork and flying ships. Æther can be transported and used as fuel the same way we use electricity, but mages can pull it straight out of nothingness, thus powering their magic. Alchemists can also use magic, but it requires lots of calculations and time, as well as ingredients and sometimes runes. Anyone can be an alchemist, but you have to be very intelligent and devoted to it, so alchemists aren't common. Their abilities are more diverse than mages, but mages abilities are almost always more powerful.
