@Griffinkeeper, how old is Adelaide?

And to all you people out there, the Pirate Lord's secret rebel group is to be known as Starfall from now on.

The modified CT for the Pirate Lord is up! Also, I modified the CT for Artemus. It turns out, Tiernan Carrow was the one who picked her up off the street, and the original captain of the Windracer.

She's a pirate Hunter essentially, so a Pirate Lord ruling the land... You can see where that'll go. If she sees the group as worthy of her company, she'll assist them in fighting the Pirate Lord.

Adelaide doesn't have a set age, I went with early twenties.

I thought it was my charming personality!

Question: would a clan of migrating gryphons do interesting things to a society with airships?

I imagine they would. Is this migration pattern predictable? If so, defenses and countermeasures might be installed in preparation. Are there any domesticated or at least tame gryphons?

I like incorporating gryphons into stories because they're fairly under-used in the fantasy genre.

Gryphons are a sentient race and a proud one. Most of them look down on humans and not just because they're flying above them. You're more likely to ride a lion than a gryphon.

Gryphons are very clan oriented; with a Patron and Matron that guide the entire clan. They are very proud creatures; but because of that family focus, they're also fairly honorable.

Their migrations are predictable, in the sense that they generally avoid humans. This isn't hard, as gryphons tend to occupy mountains and areas that are difficult for humans to access.

Once all the chaos starts occurring among the humans, humans are going to start fleeing into their territory. Fortunately, there is one clan that is a bit more progressive towards humans. Humans that arrive on their territory to cause trouble are never seen again. More peaceful humans might obtain permission to live in the territory as serfs. Occasionally, a human will gain the respect of the gryphons; to the point where they're regarded as equals. These rare humans are the only ones that can ride a gryphon. If they want to transport any other humans, they'll usually just grab them in their talons.

Defending against a gryphon attack isn't easy; they're able to fly over most walls and agile enough to avoid most arrows. The only problem is that gryphons don't have much of a melee game; other than attacking with their talons. They rely more on quick and stealthy strikes instead of the battle lines that other races form. That said, they would be ideal for taking on a pirate airship armada. I can see pirates engaging gryphons in close melees on top of an airship.

I don't think they'd show up early on; this is more for a potential ally once the Pirate Lord takes control.

Gryphons could be tiernan's secret weapon in taking over the city!

I don't really want gryphons to be a focal point for the story (sorry), but incorporating them in is great.

You incorporated Redrash and Itchybeard!
I look forward to seeing more of them. ;)
