Who's ready for NaNoWriMo?

Sign ups for National Novel Writing Month 2010 won't be open until October, but when they are you can find them at http://www.nanowrimo.org . Expectant writers begin planning what they want their 50,000 word novels to be about. But Higher Deity forbid that you should write any of it down before midnight of October 31st, because the NaNo rules only allow 30 full days of furious writing during the month of November. So be prepared for lack of food, overdose of caffeine and late nights trying to get in that extra 1,000 words, because NaNoWriMo 2016 is coming! Alrighty, let's break this down. Vets of NaNo, you know the shpeal. Newcomers and those of you still thinking about it can step into my office and hear the details. NaNoWriMo (stands for National Novel Writing Month) is an awesomely crazy, yet highly rewarding 30 day period in which your goal is to write 50,000 words of semi-coherent sentences, preferably forming some sort of story. We are not looking for perfection. Spelling and grammar can go out the window. Perfect plot lines can too. Characters can go insane at the romantic climax, and yes... you can kill off your main character if they get annoying. My point is, the goal is quantity, not quality. Moving on... to split this up a bit, 50K breaks down to 1,667 words a day. That is approximately three pages in a size 12 font. If you think you can do that easily, try setting a higher goal. Or get ahead on weekends, and save up for those nights when you have too many previously planned obligations to get a chance to sit down and write. In other words, customize this NaNo to fit to you personally. A great tip, is to bring your friends into this. They're great at nagging you about your word count and to tell you when you've had enough caffeine for the day. Feel free to also return the favor to them! They'll thank you for it in the end. Speaking of the end! Once you reach your goal, whether it be 25K, the regular 50K or maybe even 100K; you'll feel great. Don't be surprised if you're unusually giddy come December 1st and you burst out randomly laughing or you start telling strangers about your noveling experience or detailed explanations about your crazy plot that went nowhere you expected it to. I just realized that there's ten days til NaNo and I have NO plot ideas whatsoever. I kind of freaked out just a little bit.

Okay, it was more like a major break down in front of my friends. Any ideas to help me?

This will be my first Nanowrimo! Gahh, I'm excited. I'm afraid I won't finish though, because homework this year has been horrible! But I'm going to try the best I can.

I was going to do Nanowrimo last year but I didn't find out about it until the end of November. So, I've waited a year now, and am ready for Nanowrimo to start!

I haven't thought of a topic yet though! Hopefully I'll come up with some ideas soon.

Omigoodness, I have been looking for this forum for a while, since I knew it was here, but I just couldn't seem to find it. But, yay me, I found it!

I am so uber psyched! This is my first year of NaNo. And it's only 3 days away! I'm so excited!

I did nano last year... But I failed... epically... I'd lvoe to do it this year, but I have first exam half way through the month and I have so much coursework its coming out of my ears. Maybe, maybe not.

If I did it this year, I'd probably cheat and continue with my one chapter long novel: Ellima and the stupid idea for a book....

(just kidding) Technically, If I started from chapter two and wrote 50,000 words, it wouldn't be cheating, right?

*squee* I can't wait! I'm so busy with crap it's not even funny but I'm going to try anyway. It'll be my first year. I just started planning my main character after all my work was done in History on Tuesday and haven't touched it since then but I'm just happy to have a plot.

Alwaysawriter inspired me to try out a story about how slinkies and humans are alike.
I've inevitably created a whole world where they coexist. Very interesting, if i can say so myself.

Of course that is just begging for disaster so i'm edging toward a vampire story because i can make them into anything i want. I love vamp stories.

Wow I completely forgot about this until I returned to the site. xD (Yes, I'm back!!...for a short time *sigh*)

Since most of the excuses have already been given--I'll just say ditto.

School and writer's block aren't going for me right now...*sigh*

Ack! It's 4 days into the month! *gasp* :thud:

So, in short, I may or many not NaNo...it all depends on if I could just use this as a way to force myself to continue writing my 3-chap-10k-word novel that's actually the 2nd of a trilogy or some other story that I've neglected for forever.

Actually, I have this one random kind of romance thing I could turn into a novel if I wanted to. And if I have time.

So I guess my biggest question is: do we have to actually sign up? Or could it just be kind of an informal thing?

Hm... well, I had this pact with myself that if I finished my other novel thing before November, I'd reward myself by doing NaNoWriMo. I have a funny definition of the word "reward" apparently. Anyway, I didn't, so I have to wait a whole year. I'm regretting it. My new reward plan is that when I finish my current novel thing, I'll let myself have the rest of November to write whatever I want/nothing/rubbish etc.
