Hey char I think I can help you aura and stuff. Try to think of it as an extension of will. First, the wielder must be able to control his will, then he must learn to use it. That's very general but to be honest aura and the force and ki and energy is a very malleable subject, open to any interpretation. With Aura its a bit more narrowed down, mostly to physical means. You can use aura to enhance your attack damage and the pinnacle of mastery is the aura sphere, in which you will a ball of your energy to form and attack your opponent.

Hows that?

@Tortwag, currently, the idea is based off Pokémon, obviously, but also off Once Upon a Time, The Flash, Once Upon a Time, Blue Bloods, and Once Upon a Time. Did I mention Once Upon a Time? In this series, many of the characters are characters taken from fairytales, such as Snow White, Prince Charming, Red Riding Hood, etc. Due to a curse created by the Evil Queen, they end up in a town called Storybrooke in our world with no memory of their real lives. Naturally, the Evil Queen is the antagonist of the first season, but by season six, she is more beloved than Snow White and possibly even more than Emma Swan, the series' main protagonist.

So please, don't assume I am incapable of characterisation beyond stereotypes - I essentially specialise in it. You probably did not mean to be offensive, but that's how it came across. (And I have seen Gengar, Tort, I know what it looks like. If I decide to prohibit red, purple or yellow eyes in the SB because you cannot actually have red, purple or yellow eyes, then I shall do so.)

@Charizard821, Riley may be fine with believing Lucario is based off a dog, but I hope to make it a running gag where Gabriel tells people (very much exasperated) that Anubis is a god with the body of a man and the head of a canine, as Tort correctly stated, but not that of a common dog, but a jackal. (Jackals were often seen around graveyards, hence the association with death.) So, err, no, Lucario is not based off a dog.

@15253, I blame the tablet for that. To be honest, I couldn't understand what food had to do with anything, so I reread my comment. I'll not edit the comment since your response is too witty to nullify. XD

@Verser, I still have tomorrow to submit it! And besides, this post is taking forever. It's already longer than Lumi's and will probably be more than twice as long. I understand your impatience, though, but rest assured, it will be submitted soon.

(Yes, I realize that. Which is why I wonder about the reason behind the choice. I don't mind it - I just said that Gijinka arts usually followed a color pattern. And that Gengar Gijinka was just an example of it.)

1. Yes. It's my favourite series, and one of the few I am still able to follow (my parents fly through series like you would not believe D: ). The characterisation and plot is excellent, and I love how they manage to intertwine all the stories, but their battle scenes and graphic effects leave much to be desired. A pity, to be sure.

2. Oh, but since you know OUT, that means I can use analogies from it. Hoopa and Arceus were completely evil and completely good in the Pokéverse, but in the human universe, they lost their powers partly because Arceus removed them and partly because they are not the gods of said universe - they are visitors and must behave. So, at the start of the SB, think of Hoopa as Mr Gold and Arceus as Mary Margaret. Those representations could be quite accurate, actually, as Rumplestiltskin eventually performed a full Heel-Face Turn, while Snow White's heart became tinged with black. Why should human influence not make Hoopa and Arceus more human, then?

3. Your confusion concerning my stance towards the Gijinkas is actually ironic. I decided to break away from how people would expect the Pokémon to look and depict them in a more unpredictable/realistic manner. For example, I visualised Venusaur as... (enspoilered so Char isn't permanently scarred)

...a middle-aged, overweight, bald Caucasian man who works at a greenhouse where the employees wear green clothes with the company's logo (a large pink flower) on the back.

Unfortunately for Bulbasaur-lovers, they can't change this appearance, since I shan't allow participants to use Pokémon that have been or will be used in past, current, or future Pokémon SBs.

4. Maybe it's just because you are personally invested in Hoopa. Remember when Frost arrived at Mt. Providence and Verser portrayed a Gardevoir as evil and I snapped at him for it? That was wrong of me, since he is allowed to portray them however he wants to. The same applies here, so if I wish to depict Hoopa as the kind of Pokéman (courtesy of Char) who makes tempting pacts with people which they later come to regret, and Arceus as the wise, honourable, and good mentor because they were somewhat created with that in mind, then you must allow me to. I'd do the same if you decided to invert their roles.

1. It's pretty darn amazing, from what I've seen - though I unfrotunately don't follow it much (Well that's a shame... You mean like, they don't let you follow these?)

Well that's the thing: Hoopa's already been influenced by humans. I know that this is subject to change if you interpret the guy your own way, but... I mean, that's why he's confined in the first place - human contact. So that, I really don't mind - go for it, actually.

3. ...Oh. But Gijinkas already do that. Some of them are surprisingly realistic in some of their depictions, I just showed you basic examples to giveyou an idea, but I didn't pull out the best ones yet.

4. I don't think it's just that - I'm usually a fairly tolerant guy, especially considering that I tend to twist a lot of things myself - i.e. Twinkiel the Flaaffy.

I think it comes from the feeling I get that it's too... how can I say this... too "easy", so to speak, to have your average demonic figure be the main bad guy. I mean, you will turn this into something great because that's how much of an awesome writer you are, but I'm talking about this initial impression.
Like, take Darkrai for example.

He's one of the hidden villains of Mystery DUngeon (won't tell you which one, play the darn games XD) - as you'd expect the enbodiment of darkness and nightmares to be, right? (not to mention his plan was really, really clever)

Well, he's also the guy who spent three days placing a sleeping spell on a city just so he could capture a family of disturbed ghosts and put them back in the afterlife - where they belonged, because that's part of his job.
Yet, Cresselia and Ash (since it happened in the anime) spent all this time hunting him down, thinking that he was plotting stuff again. yet he was actually behaving for once.

But see, he's ALSO the same guy who murered an entire family of people, created the second creppiest place in Pokemon history, and cursed a single ghost child (who's the one explaining that Darkrai killed her and her family) to remain in the material world. Until you - the player - fetches Cresselia to release her from her curse.

See what I mean? When I read the whole "Hoopa's the evil we must all fight" thing, it felt... Yeah, it felt too easy. So yes, since I'm personally involved with the guy, it most certainly clouded my judgement the very second I read your lines, but you're certainly good enough to make good stuff out of this, as I said.

...But maybe it's also because THIS:

Which clashes completely with the Hoopa we have here. And gosh, the voice... The voice he has... I'm not saying that JUST because I'm fan of him, they really took the cutest voice actor they could find for this little guy.
(Pikachu's still cuter-sounding, I'd say, though)

There's actually a reason my Hoopa is more unstable. But that will be addressed later.

@Astralhunter: Then it's a good thing the two fighters are Pokemon that aren't even vaguely human.

Someone has to go after Zulu though and beat him down so that voice in his head's hold is broken on him. Not as a Psyche battle though. Just a plain old battle. And there are two that can do this. @Charizard821 and @Tortwag.

Of course there's a reason. Or at least I'm not really surprise that there should be one: I've been suspecting something since you asked me to write a torture post for the little guy.

Dude. You KNOW how much Twinkiel and I love battlin'. Besides, Riley doesn't know what happened and is currently supposed to be training in the cave, while Twinkiel's already out with Fleedjio racing to warn him.

I just have one question before starting writin' some plans for that battle, however: is Zulu's voice still active? As in, will I have to write Zulu in his "dark side" if we do end up fighting?

@Tortwag: It's still active, just not at the moment. It's trying to break Zulu down until there's nothing left. Why? Also something that will be revealed. But I bet Twinkiel could probably make it angry enough for it to come out for a fight.

Remember, the voice can take over when Zulu is weakened either mentally or physically. Zulu, theoretically, could do the same to the voice.

@Robusto, I know why your Hoopa is as unstable as the structure where beasts of burden are kept but with a prefix meaning "not" in front of it. Unfortunately, I don't know who exactly is responsible for the concerned events, just that I plan on making him owe a favour to someone who owes someone else a favour.

1. I can watch whenever I want to, it simply comes down to choosing my PC or the television. Hah, like that's even a choice.

2. How would you respond if I told you that Arceus has all seventeen of his plates in the form of a string of beads that he keeps in his pocket? Or that Hoopa's Prison Bottle is a ship in a bottle in his office?

3. Sadly, I can only draw what I see. Attempting to draw from my imagination results in Eldritch Abominations.

4. In Arabian culture, Djinni are actually a race like humans - both have equal potential for good or ill, and they possess the free will to choose which. However, here, the concerned Djinn is more like a trickster who wants to be in charge so nobody can act like a parent to him. After all, Hoopa was New York City's mayor for nearly a decade, yet the city is still standing.

Don't think that means you can trust him, though. Mehrunes Dragon and Clavicus Vile are two Daedric Princes (rebel gods who refused to participate in the creation of the world so they could keep their powers) from a game I'm playing. The former is the DP of ambition and revolution who once got frighteningly close to entering the world and ruling over it, while the latter is the DP of power, who often makes tempting deals with mortals - which they later come to regret. In that order, I would compare Hoopa Unbound and Hoopa Confined to them. So, you could go to mayor Hoopa for assistance, sure, but expect a steep price for his services, even of it doesn't seem so at first.

Then I'd proceed to think twice about what you just said and realize that they can basically snap at will. Which is the worst possible thing to give these kind of beings.
From the way I see it, it's like giving Naruto full control of his inner demon Kyubi in Episode 1. BAAAAAAAAAD.

3. I know that feeling too well. And I also realize that you don't exactly have time left to practice. Gimme a full description of that amazing thing and I migth actually give it a shot at some point though.

And actually, Hoopa's more like some kind of baby who wants loads attention - and yes, that includes his Unbound form, though that one is obviously guided by malevolent wishes.

The New York city part of your post is amazing. Like, seriously, stop for a second and imagine Hoopa with a tie and overgrown business suit, sitting in the white house with the catchphrase "Hoop dee doo!" next to his chair. Just picture that for a second. That's the image I get from what you just said, Astral. And it's lovely.


Well that's one darn good way to see it. So lemme make sure if we agree on this - AKA if I understand your point of view well and hug you if I do.
NOTE: not actually a very huggy person.

Step 1. Go to Confined's office and ask him for a boulder.
Step 2. He fetches one of his hoops and teleports a boulder in.
Step 3. Since you were dumb enough to NOT be specific about the dimensions, size and way of appearance, you make the deal, but when the giant boulder arrives right above your wishful head, it squashes you, and well, you die.
Step 4: sure, you're dead, but you got what you wanted, so the deal is fair. You just lost what had - AKA your life.
Step 5. Hoopa's been giggling the entire time and still giggles to this very day.

Yip. That is exactly what Hoopa would do. You know that Clavicus Vile dude? A father once went to him and asked for a cure to his daughter's lycanthropy - so CV gave him an axe. Centuries later, you show up at CV's statue, but you have to clear out a whole coven of vampires before you can. You are then left with a sickened feeling as CV tells you they were praying to him for a cure and your arrival was by far better than what he had planned.

So yes, that is exactly the kind of loophole Hoopa would exploit. You don't have to worry about either him or Arceus snapping, though, since their objects are useless at present. They are literally just decorations. Arceus did this to ensure humanity has a fighting chance. The only way to restore the items' power is by having enough Major Legendaries on your side, and to do that, you need enough Pokémen on your side to capture the thralls before your rival can. If you can convince them to join you, great; if not, well, at least your rival doesn't have them.

@AstralHunter Ok. Then I got it! Time to hug.
