Agreed Spotswood. I cannot bare Tim Burton films.

I saw the new one in theaters. I remember enjoying it, and I do think it was more true to the book, but I don't really remember it, and I don't know if I'd go out of my way to see it again.

The original, on the other hand, I've seen several times since childhood (although honestly, I don't know if I'd go out of my way to see it again either), and now the songs are stuck in my head. Thanks guys.

I do like Johnny Depp though.

The newer one is better I think. We saw the original like 10 times at school and it's not as good.

I'm not sure if I ever saw the original one completely, but the original Oompa-Loompas were the scariest thing I ever saw (and heard). The new Oompa-Loompas have catchy songs, but I wouldn't say they're what I imagine Oompa-Loompas to be like either.

So I chose the book.
