Valentines Day was founded as a day to honor and remember a specific group of martyrs who had died in God's name. In the 18th century, it became a holiday formed around love and romance. Today, it has become all about the hearts and flowers and the candy...oh, and the money.

But let's keep it simple, like it should be. No one should be without a little extra love during this time of year, so who's your valentine?

If you don't have one, you should go find one!

Have you never celebrated Valentine's Day?

In any case, in the town that I used to live in, it was a big thing, and we had a community dance that day. (Yes, I know it sounds all hoity-toity and Jane Eyre-ish, but it's the truth.) But you didn't go to the dance with all of your friends, you went and found yourself a valentine (usually the guys asked the girls,) by giving them a card or some flowers and asking them 'Will you be mine?'

It was pretty fun. Awkward at first, but once you got used to it, it makes a lot of sense.

@AEChronicle, my uncle died the day after Valentine's, and my lack of a 'significant other' kind of makes the day weird. I usually spend it volunteering at my church annual fundraiser.

Um, valentines day isn't a big thing for me. Since I don't date people and all. Considering the fact that I tripped on a curb and cracked my growth bone the day after last valentines day, I think something is out to get me this one
