Social Week 2025

It is needless to say we all love YWS. This site is a wonderful little corner of the internet where people can share their writing, roleplay, and even play some games in the Randomosity forums. However, although YWS is a writing site, many of us have stayed for the community.

To celebrate that community, the mods are pleased to announce that Social Week will be happening once again! From February 10-16, there will be fun activities in the forums, People's Tab, and WFPs to encourage community building. This is an all-hands-on-deck effort from the mod squad, so every aspect of YWS will be celebrated in some way, shape, or form.

It is super easy to participate in Social Week! Prompts and activities will be announced in this thread and on wall posts. All you have to do is follow the prompt, attend the pad party, and just get involved! We ask that you include the hashtags included in the prompts so we can keep track of all the kindness we're spreading. Also, the site rules on community still apply during this event, so make sure to keep it respectful and family-friendly!

Hello everybody, and we hope you're having a good time this Valentines Season! In the spirit of Social Week, your friendly GenLit Mods would like to present a little writing challenge!

The challenge is: a character swap! In this event, you can write a short story featuring your own style, while using other people's characters with the author's consent--- and offering up your own. It's the season! So get writing with a touch of romance. Check out all the details here!

How does this work? Post #SummarizeMe on your wall and YWSers will reply summarizing you with the amount of words equal to amount of letters in your username.
