Young Writers Society

  • I have finished designing seven castles! (Basically I have their outlines, maps, reference photos, color schemes, etc). And with that being said, I'll pose the question one more time. Would any of you be interested in a sneak peek of the secret story project these structures belong to (albeit far from completion)?

  • Hey there! I hope you enjoy pad parties! This one is rather a special one. Mr.Pineapple will be excited to see you there<3

    Record Breaking Attempt

All Are Invited! We will need at least 33 users to break the previous record! Join us to be part of YWS History!

I hope everyone enjoyed #UnSoMo now as the official social fortnight or #SocialMonth2024 has started. Here is one more exciting thing for you all. This social month we planned to break a YWS record! All the past YWS records and record holders are mentioned in the The YWS Big Book of Records, but there are collective records as well like the last Great Tortoise Race of 2023 we broke the last Most Users to Complete Team Tortoise in one Month record with 9 members making through the month.

This social month on YWS we are trying to break the record of Most people in a writing pad at once. It would be a pretty cool record to set. The last one would probably have been for YWS's 16th birthday with around 32 people. We are trying to surpass that goal and yeah that's crazy, chaotic, and of course AMAZING!

We got this! Do not forget your fruit juices, everyone. Mr.Pineapple invites you to the GREAT PINEAPPLE PARTY hosted by me and @OrabellaAvenue!
    The date and timing is
(There is a code applied that changes the time to the reader's time zone so it will be different for everyone according to where they live)

  • I have a curious question (NOT A COMPETITION) to ask you guys, as fellow writers. I found myself semi-arguing this with a friend (they write, mostly fanfiction, but not publicly).

What's the fastest you've produced a full-length chapter? You don't have to include proofreading and polishing processes, just in general. Like, on a good day, you sit down and start typing a chapter somewhere between 1500-3500 words, maybe you go overboard and have to break it up during revisions...When do you start, when do you end?

Like I said, this is not a competition, because I'm aware every writer has their own pace and that's natural. However, I became curious after being called a psychopath by this person, and now I'm also looking to prove that point (the point about writers having different paces, not the second part) XD

LadyMysterio Id say the fastest was an hour or two

  • Guys I just spent literally two weeks designing seven different castles and I'm still not done, I think I'm going mad ~

This is for the grand new book I have in the works, mentioned in my "about" section. It's VERY far from completion, but at the risk of sounding full of myself, I'm very proud of what I have so far and I'm just really excited about it ~

(There is a point to this ramble btw, I have a question).

TFR is actually what caused this somewhat obnoxious mapping project. One of the chief complaints I've gotten is that, with the Aubade Palace, I don't do a great job of describing its layout. This is because it's a massive and complex structure that I only use a few rooms out of at a time...Aaaaand, by my mistake, there was never a 100% solid layout of the building to begin with. When I was new to writing, I did NOT care about details, I just wanted to get to the action!

That's why I decided to start mapping out castles and other big buildings before I write about them, so I may hopefully avoid this error in the future. It made me wonder two things along the way though:

For TFR readers, do you think a map of the Aubade Palace would help you visualize it better? Would it be too much?

And I would understand if you'd rather wait until this project is more...existent, lol, but would you be interested in a tiny teaser of this project? For example, I could make a game out of it...

*the grin widens* The Familiar ever so loves games, heh heh heh...

  • I decided to finally create a more official review method! It was getting a little hard to generate quality reviews on the spot, so I decided to follow in the steps of other awesome reviewers and create a themed review format as a spin-off of the YWS'mores method. I chose to use the creature you see in my prof pic (it's called the Familiar) as the central theme. Hopefully this will help when I'm having an "off" day, lol. Also, it's about time I figure out how to use YWS's codes, so hopefully I'm doing that right. This is what I created:

    Hello (again), my friend!

Introduction; I am Raven (or "it's me, Raven"), here to review with my Familiar method, inspired by the YWS s'mores method. Let's dive right in, shall we? Heh heh heh...

    What The Black Eyes See...

Here I summarize what I read and my general thoughts.

    Where The Dagger Points...

Here I mention any errors or what I *personally* think could be improved, if there are any. Always remember, I am not a pro, and my advice is to be taken with a grain of salt ~

    Why The Grin Widened...

Here I mention the strong suits, highlights of the story/poem, and what I personally liked.

    Our Mad Thoughts...

Here I say any conclusions and a quick goodbye of course, and hopefully I'll have a banner for it soon.

If you have tips or critiques, feel free to let me know! :)

    AilahEvelynMae This looks awesome!!

  • Fun fact: pigs love cuddles.

My cat fell asleep in the pig bed, and now the pig is using him as a pillow. I thought the cat was being crushed, but he turned out to be purring and enjoying himself, and the pig was smiling (yes, pigs smile lol). They are now besties apparently.

My uncle and his gf run this animal shelter and they have this pet pig named bean and he's the cutest little thing ever

  • Just sharing something I realized as I post more reviews.

I will remark on traits like humility or kindness, but my default metrics for judging a protagonist, specifically a hero, always wind up being courage, power, and wisdom...

I dub it the Triforce method.

And thus concludes my random nonsense of the day, lol.

  • Hey, I read your about section. We have similar stories. I've been hunting and hunting for a great place to get criticism and feedback, and I never got it. I've tried Booksie and a few others for a bit, *didn't even want to touch Wattpad after stories of bad events there* and browsed through multiple others. I found this to be the best of them all on feedback, positivity, and friendly environment. Hope you find your writing home here, too :D

    Also, congratulations on featured member!

RavenAkuma Right? It's hard to find hard, honest feedback on a lot of these platforms. And consider yourself lucky that you skipped Wattpad -it has its good moments, but man, is it TOXIC.

    And thank you! :)

    Jan 16, 2024

Kaia Yeah! I have heard that it's toxic! This community is very positive and welcoming, though. And the mods are also very active and keep things running smoothly.

    Of course!!

Owning our story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it. Embracing our vulnerabilities is risky but not nearly as dangerous as giving up on love and belonging and joy—the experiences that make us the most vulnerable. Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light.
