What is YWS without the literary aspects that make up the writers part of YWS. One of those aspects is poetry and we love poetry! And there are just so many types of poetry and each is very wonderful and trying a variety of poetry forms help us grow as poets and gives us even more wonderful poetry

So to celebrate another year of YWS excising we bring to you the Acrostic poetry contest! For this contest you are tasked to write and acrostic poem using an acrostic of a birthday, YWS, or 20 years theme.

What is an acrostic you ask? Check out this spoiler if you would like more info on that
Spoiler

Acrostic poems are a poetic form where the first letter of every line is capitalized and spells out a word or phrase vertically.

there are many ways you can write an acrostic
- for example it can be a letter per line such as this poem here Chickens Aspiring (Acrostic)
- Or it can be capitalized per stanza like this poem I Hate Acrostic Poems (Winter)
- Or it can be a phrase with a word per line with several stanzas To YWS (Happy Sixth Birthday)

This contest will be judged by a few judges based on originality, theme, entertainment, and cleverness. Any poems written with AI will be disqualified.

The winner will get a badge for their wonderful work

Happy poeting contestants!
that the powerful play goes on

~~~
By the power of the internet
I have found a slice of community
Right here on YWS we unite with writing
Twenty years of fun and creativity
Here we've written and here we've been
Do we know what tomorrow holds for the site?
A guess can be made, but no one knows for certain.
You'll just have to stay and find out!
you should know i am a time traveler &
there is no season as achingly temporary as now
but i have promised to return
Uh, Lisa, the whole reason we have elected officials is so we don't have to think all the time. Just like that rainforest scare a few years back: our officials saw there was a problem and they fixed it, didn't they?
