something’s found its way back
i never thought i’d see the sweet faces of these pale petals again
not in such abundance
you bring me bouquets of bliss
twinkling teeth and the soft touch of your lips
i left myself in a bog of rotting weeds
but as where wind blows now, the air tastes delightful

i keep them under my pillow
for the chance to see you in my slumbers
you have all my affection
in my dreamy haze your warmth lingers
in the light of your embrace
i see you so clearly
my skin smudges the glass of dreams and reality
they’re one and the same with you

i have tended these flowers
multiple times
i gifted them to many
but their fate remained the same;
cut at the stems,
left to rot in their vases
will you help the last of them survive?
you’ve rooted them in soft soil
loving hands with dirt beneath your nails
sheltered them from the floods
growing in the sun’s endearment from your windowsill
you keep a close eye on them
their survival is my declaration to you

my treasure.
