i. daisies ∙ bellis
the world stops revolving
in these times past
peony and violets
simply do not last

anomalous standards
childhood dreams and wishes
decay into nothing
but broken dishes

i wish i was a daisy
young and pure
preserving that life
that once was sure

ii. lilacs ∙ syringa
among the first of the claims
or perhaps a victim of a peculiar sentiment
i find myself among the pale purples of ardor
wondering…wandering
amidst an addled avidity

under a sort of sedation
perhaps it was underappretiation
a murk floating above my station
is it captivation or anticipation?
or a conceivable zeal in my isolation?

surely the greedy actions of desperation
reverberating in my reiterations

iii. columbine ∙ aquileia
a droopy jester’s hat
jingling foolishly
shaky outlines of devotion
yet the color bursts beyond them
wasting the ink
what was the point?

LUXXXX OH MY GOSH. these poems are so so incredible. the feelings you evoke are so tangible and perfect. my favorite so far was daisies. that last stanza just broke my heart. i can't wait to read more from you this month!! good luck with the rest of your napo <3

I love the green! Awesome job keeping up with NaPo.

I love your third poem, Columbine, it's so short and yet has such a great feel to it. ^^ My favourite part is definitely the "What was the point?" in the end.

iv. sunflowers ∙[i] helianthus[i]
smiling coins outstretch their golden petals
beams of sunlight pouring down
false riches wilting away into pools of iniquity
troves of gold
all but a mirage of cinders
trails of gray and embered linings

text:
v. datura ∙ datura
webbing mazes of deceptions
the tune of devil’s trumpets ringing
discordant and sweet
pungent and intoxicating
refractments of vibrance
stirred violently into a gumbo of mud
skulls smeared across the asphalt
quiet corpses still muttering admonitions
streaked and smudged as vibrant as those refractments
it’s hard to miss along the roadlines
even as the clouds spatter their disappointment

vi. nettle ∙ urtica
needled leaves press in their puncturing toxins
flying on wings tethered to the ground
the itchy ropes tangled around them
digging into my skin
the birds themselves have no other option
as the shots resound
ripped out of the sky, spiraling down

oh wow your nature imagery is sooo good. Also it's super cool that all your poems are named after flowers (i think). I would definitely not be able to keep a constant theme throughout all of napo lol. anyways don't mind me just putting some of my favorite lines

simmering blood and poison words
sinking into my stomach
bubbles popping inside like
the hostility in that voice
bursting syllables, sprinkling drops of resentment
incomprehensible
pathetic.

rupturing buds spraying their boasts
what is in them?
nothing but dust and false promises

a couple seeds at most
sewn into ripped hems
down the throats of your hostages

all of it
it couldn’t be clear– just preposterous
the colors drained out– all monotonous
a void no farther than tartarus
this isn’t what i wanted for us
