Plume's Camp NaNo : The Chronicles of Lady Alberta

This all started when I wrote this story last year for my creative writing class. I had so much fun writing it that I'm going to expand the series and write some more short little mysteries. I started one before Camp NaNo, but I'd love to do more, especially if maybe one day I could just mash 'em all together and make a weird little middle-grade anthology (if those even exist). Anyways.

Premise
Lady Alberta Parapluie and her maid, Nova Scotia, team up to solve mysteries and conundrums within the court of the Queendom of Canadia.

Goal
I was a little stuck on how to do the goals, but I think I'm going to try to write three stories and have deadlines for them throughout the month. I've already brainstormed some possible titles/plots, so it'll be easier to just go from one to writing another. Here are some rough deadlines (subject to change— if I end up finishing one story early, I might move the deadline for one earlier/try to write four. We'll see).

Finish Lady Alberta and the Wedding Saboteur by July 13

Finish Story #2 by July 22

Finish Story #3 by July 31

Fingers crossed I can meet these goals!

Honestly if MG anthologies aren't a thing they should be!! I think it makes so much sense for the age group!! :)
It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live.

Thanks for the kind words, @Snoink and @Carlito!

Days 1 & 2

Currently on vacation (in Canada, ironically) so I didn't get as much done as I would have liked, but I'm still committed!

So far, I've written a good chunk of beginning section of Lady Alberta and the Wedding Saboteur and planned the specific beats out for the rest of it. (I'd already had part of it written, so my total WC for Camp NaNo looks a lot lower than what's actually there for the beginning.)

Days 3-10

I am finally back from vacation! I did write a little on some of the days, but didn't track it here (oopsies). I've finished with the first part of the story so far—not sure if I'll be able to make my July 13 deadline, but I'm going to try!

Day 11

Wrote some more and finished another scene! I'm honestly so happy that I'm writing this; it's reminding me why I love writing so much (though the urge to make it a graphic novel is strong). Here's one of my favorite lines so far:

Spoiler
Halifax glanced at her dubiously. “Are you sure you have the credentials for this?”
Alberta scoffed. “Of course I do,” she said, as Nova mouthed no emphatically behind her.

Excited to write more tomorrow!

Day 12

Did NOT get a lot done today because I decided to spend my evening watching my favorite TV show with my younger brother. Which was also super fun. But it means that I probably won't reach my goal to finish this story by tomorrow; I'm going to attempt to catch up on the weekend.

Days 16-23

Spoiler alert: did not get that one finished. I've been severely slacking, but I have also been essentially working a full time job and I am tired every evening. At this point, I'm going to be happy if I make it through the end of this month and finish this story. I am enjoying what I've done so far, though!

Don't stress about it. Trust me, I know how you're feeling about being exhausted and not having the time to write. In the same place, currently!! But also, so glad to hear you like what you have so far. That's what really counts in the long run!!

Days ???

Well! It is the end of the month and I am proud to say Lady Alberta and the Wedding Saboteur is verrrry nearly finished! I've just got one more scene to write, but honestly, I did more than I thought I would these past few days. I like what I wrote a lot, and I'm definitely going to continue working on it even with the end of July here.
