Minecraft

I've tried playing Minecraft, got lost very quickly, and ended up spending my time messing around with mods that I had no idea how to use. I suppose that's more of my fault than anything.

My main complaint is that the game takes up more RAM than it needs to. Even on fast mode, the game has a low FPS rate on my laptop.

If your laptop is 64bit, try using 64bit Java if you're not already. I use and Alienware M14 and I average 80fps, 130fps at the highest. If switching the Java version doesn't help then the next thing that comes to mind is that your laptop has low-quality specs.

There've been, like, three servers hosted by either myself, chibibo, or Aet Lindling that were more or less used as YWS cult beds. Our most recent one may still exist, and it can handle the traffic just fine. I think the most we've had on at once is eight?

Regardless, it'd be much better for someone else to host the server (if one is to be created) as we tie ourselves up in other messes outside of YWScraft.

Oh, and if anyone wants to play spleef, message one of us.

I'm a spleefer but my internet gives me lag. Unless the server is Aus based or ridiculously top quality, lag catches me out.

In addition, someone came in at one point and set off hundreds of TNT blocks at once, which caused both our clients to crash (I was out of town at the time and had left my server running), but upon logging back in my server back home was still doing fine. That's not the most stringent or official stress test, and it may very well die anyway, but as far as I know my server should be able to handle just about anything that this community would bring, since I imagine there'd be about 3-4 people on at peak, 8 if people organized a get-together.

It's not quite up to snuff to be a community server yet, but once it is a proper server (fix up the map, install some administration mods), I'll release the IP. What I'd be interested to know is if people want a creative server or a survival server? I'm more inclined towards survival, possibly letting people have creative access if they request it for building cool things. On the other hand, if the majority want creative then I'll go for it.

I can make a server for YWS but I will need donations to pay for it. I can do all the plugin stuff and building! So just say if you need it!!
