So what do you guy think about doing your school at night? For almost the entire first semester of 9th grade i'v actully done most of my school work at night. I would start at like 9 or so and get done at about midnight. My mom would let be sleep in a little extra and then i woul awake to finish the little bit of school i had left. It worked really well, except i think i started to get behind in sleep... maybe i went a little overboard a couple of times....

Yeah, I rarely go to sleep before 4am these days, so guess when my school work gets done? And my parents don't have any problems with it, so long as I get up before 1pm. Noon is fine, but not one hour after.
I also went to a home school where I didn't have to go anywhere face-to-face unless I signed up for that ahead of time, so I didn't have my sleep schedule clashing with my every-day schedule.
I find I'm more productive at night, don't you? Less chance of interruption. -
Hmm.. Cool idea, but I need my sleep. XD
The problem is that I end up doing soo much during the day that I can't really sleep in all that much, and W-2 other siblings around, it gets even harder.
But if I could, I definitely would try it. I have always been a night-person.

Well, given I already stay up waaay too late, yeah, that might be a better way to spend my time than sneaking onto teh netz at 2 am.

I can really work anytime i want, of course, but I work way better in the morning. I start at 9am...and then by 3pm, I'm already drained. I write at night! School during the morning and early afternoon. ^_^

There's a general rule in my house -- schoolwork gets done BEFORE 3pm. Which is not to say that I generally comply. Math, I find, is best in the late evening (less chance of interruption and distraction (IE computer)), and grammar is so pitiful it can be snuck in during lunch. I actually read my history book before bed these days instead of my usual YAfic. How weird is that? XD
My mom is a night owl, and so am I -- is it a uniquely homeschooler trait? o.O -
I work better at night because there's no-one around, and I can concentrate easier when i'm tired out. Trouble is I also write at night, and one serves for a great procrastination technique against the other.

I found that writing for hobby is easier at night and writing for school is much easier in the early morning.

My day goes something like this:
Start school at about 9 am.
Finish by 2 p.m. on a bad day (A really bad day is finishing at 5/6 pm. A good day is finishing before lunch)
Hang out on YWS until dinner (usually from 2pm until 5/6pm on a good day. Spending time on here in the mornings leads to bad days.
)
Do something in the evenings, usually watching tv or spending more time on here. Or the odd class.
Write from about 9 pm (sometimes eariler) until anywhere from 10 pm to 2 am.
Repeat.

Nocturnal homeschooling is something I once did. It went fairly well until my parents figured out what I was doing. And my mother demands I get up at 0600 with the rest of them.
In the immortal words of my father. "You're doing your school at night? What are you, a vampire?"
Me: "I want to suck your blood."
Father: "That'll work fine until you try to interface with normal society."
Me: "I don't interface with normal society, dad, that's part of being homeschooled."
Father: *Sighs and walks away*
Me: *Wonders if I should keep doing school at night because he didn't really say not to.*
So I do it in the day. It's not very hard. Crank out an essay or two, write about current events, do French, blah-blah, I procrastinate, tho'...
How about this? I recently decided that at one point in my life I'm going to attempt living 30-hour days. Up for 20, asleep for 10. Wouldn't that be awesome? I think that I could get way more done. -
I've done that several times, I think because we are home schooled we can do school however we want to including at night. We rock! LOL!

I would love that. It would give me an excuse. "But, Mom, I have to stay up past midnight! I have three pages of math to catch up on!" The only problem with that is that at our house, no computers until schoolwork's done. That'd wouldn't work out so well. Plus, by the end of the day I'm in this weird state of extra energy accumulated from sitting at the kitchen table all day, and mental exhaustion from doing too much math. So I usually spend my nights boucing around my room and jumping into doorframes (accidentally).

I like to do my work starting at 10am so that I'm done when my friends are out of school. It's amazing what you can squeaze into a few hours! This is my first year homeschooling, and I think it's way better than public school!

That sound interesting. I think it'd be fun to try. But I won't because thats my reading time. My little sister(only a few years younger then me) is always bugging me when I try to read, so I only get to read peacefully when she's detracted or asleep.
I love reading, I read more books in a two months then kids with assigned reading lists read in a year.
