right now i’m just waiting for this weeks episode to come out, but i have something to say: who feels like jugyeong made a bunch of positive character development, then just lost it all? like, she almost doesn’t have any personality anymore.

I haven't read the most recent updates in a bit, but that was actually the reason I stopped reading it. I kept waiting for her to realize that she doesn't need to 1) hide her makeup-less self from her loved ones and 2) define herself by her relationships, but the first of the two just hasn't happened yet?? I got into the comic at first because I really wanted to see her be open with her friends and be accepted.

oops i was watching hannah montana hehe. i think she is growing out of the makeup thing a little bit, but not necessarily the new the relationship thing.

Pretty late to say this, but I think it is totally possible for someone to just "lose" their personality or what made them shine in the past. That doesn't necessarily make for a good story (though True Beauty is one of my favorite Webtoons), but life happens. For example, the guy that Jugyeong liked and who she felt the most comfortable with left, cutting off all contact, and then her dreams of becoming a makeup artist crumbled. Plus, college is so draining and adding on the fact that her self-esteem isn't good, it could cause her to regress back to how she was before. Although I think she has a lot of growing to do and she needs to become more confident in herself because of her own self-worth, I think I can understand her "regression," because I feel like though I've grown in some ways, I've lost some of my confidence/ability in others just due to things that happen in life.
Haha anyways that was kinda long, but that's my take on True Beauty.Spoiler
I hope she either is able to grow into a strong, mature relationship with Seojun and/or she ends up focusing on herself and self-growth/love by the end. I think Suho is super sweet, but he needs support through his mental health journey and I don't think he's in the right state to be in a relationship without hurting himself more. -
I wholeheartedly agree, @Lael! It's hard to tell right now because the story is still ongoing, but I'm really hoping that Jugyeong gets a growth arc. It's what I know I was hoping for when I first started reading the story, and I feel like it can still be delivered - I just might need to take a break so the episodes can build up before it is.
