Poetry Readers

Hello poets! The poem we'll be discussing this month is Petrichor by the fabulous @waywardxwallflower!

The discussion prompts we'll be looking at are:
1. Describe in three words what you think the poem is about. What are its themes and concerns?
2. What happens in the poem? Are there any specific events?
3. The word 'petrichor' occurs in the title and some of the repeating lines. What does that word mean to you and how does it make you feel?
4. Change what "person" the poem is written in - for example, swap out all the 'she's and 'her's for 'you's and 'your's. What effect does that have on how you experience the poem?

Petrichor followed wherever she went

All the places she’d gone and the time that she’d spent

Her laughter still echoed in melancholy scent

Petrichor followed wherever she went

Wherever she’d go was the soft sound of rain

All her skipping and smiles, all her aches and her pains

Through e’er looming trees by the side of the lane

You can listen and still hear the soft sound of rain

Puddles would gather wherever she’d roam

They’d gather in rocks and the welcoming loam

She never could find a good place to call home

So the puddles would gather wherever she’d roam
