Yo.
Spoiler
Without a second wasted, Lylatt pointed his Obsidian Obelisk at the featureless face of the creature stunned below him, even as the turtle of light vanished. Two shots later, Lylatt lifted his Dread Defender once more as the force field defended him from the electric bullets he knew Aporia would throw at him soon. While protected, Lylatt swiftly put away his gun and took his Vile Venospada into his hand once more. But before he could lower the shield and swing, a large number of bullets came crashing against his force field.
Ah. He can rapid-fire. Lylatt jerked his head towards Aporia, who stood atop Valmond’s drawn palmastrel — which seemed to feed the flying robot with Valmond electricity, which Lylatt could now see was channeled directly from the boy’s body.
Keeping that information in mind, Lylatt kept his shield up but deactivated the force field before, in the same second, dashing to the side, a green trail of light following his impossibly fast motion. As Aporia’s pelting moved to follow, Lylatt moved a leg back and kicked the creature at his feet straight towards Aporia and into the barrage of bullets. Valmond was the first to react.
“Apo-”
“I saw it.”
With a quiet, amused chuckle, Lylatt switched from Vile Venospada back to Obsidian Obelisk. While he aimed, he sent a quick discharge of pink pulse to the center of his back, where his fifth asset rested. On stunned enemy
Use number one: Vengeful Quills
Bampaia, deploy
The kicked creature found itself shortly trapped in the barrage of bullets before Aporia stopped it, and just as he did, Lylatt fired. His three bullets were met with a discharge of electricity from Aporia’s body, like spears of angry lightning stretching in all directions but behind him — no doubt to protect Valmond from its destructive effect. Lylatt shot twice more, approaching the duo as, from his armor’s back, a tiny flying machine of his own deployed (taking the appearance of a ghost with a purple mantle, a skull-shaped mask, devilish horns, and feather-like wings protruding from its back), moving its gray-colored hands forward as a series of orange-colored needle-shaped projectiles flew to the creature before Lylatt, who had just begun to rise from the ground.
Lylatt shot another bullet at Aporia to force him to keep up his shielding attack, before switching from gun to blade and once again aiming for the cloaked creature.
But suddenly, it simply ceased to be.
Lylatt frowned. Invisibility? Teleport?
The answer to his thoughts answer came in the form of a tiny capsule — no doubt thrown by Valmond — that landed on the ground where the creature used to be. Lylatt raised his shield as Aporia stopped his display, then the capsule shone and, in a puff of literal smoke, out came four exact copies of the creature from before, who leapt back as one man to form a wall before Valmond and Aporia, who flew off of his partner’s palmastrel — most likely to better surveil the area from the air like before. Taking this opportunity, Lylatt briefly shone pink once more and sent a pulse ray to his support unit, Bampaia. Before the dream of awakening comes the reality of rest
Can’t go invisible yet. Lylatt thought as his Bampaia flew back to him. Shouldn’t use Shield Bash: Omega again, either. They’re a bit far and Aporia’s adaptable. Sheathing his Vile Venospada once more, Lylatt decided to keep up the pressure: so, he drew his Obsidian Obelisk, ignored Aporia’s immediate reaction — although his placing himself in front of the cloned creatures certainly helped in confirming that Valmond, barely visible in the back, prepared a surprise of his own — coated it with his armor’s green pulse, and fired. Out came five incredibly quick shots which Aporia disintegrated with another round of his sparking defense.
What emerged next, however, was not a bullet.
It was instead a splash of blackish purple splashing on the ground below like shot paint. And from the makeshift paint came another impossible sight: sharply clawed tendrils of a matter most dark, advancing towards an understandably shocked Aporia.
“Resolute Waver,” Valmond suddenly exclaimed in audible agitation, “protect him!”
To Lylatt’s surprise, his opponent’s exclamation had barely ended that a new figure already rocketed itself to Aporia’s rescue. Although a blur, it stopped right in front of him, letting Lylatt spot the shape of a new metal servant of sorts, cross between a giant dragonfly and a one-person plane.
But although the Resolute Waver could apparently take on Lylatt’s charged shot, it was still pushed away by the clawed tendrils — leaving enough time for Aporia to fly up to avoid crashing into the wall behind him, while two of the cloaked clones in front of Valmond came forward, opening their palms to project what seemed to be protective gust of violent wind; yet the Resolute Waver still crashed into them, then the wall.
A charged shot can go through Aporia’s defensive lightning. Noted. Where’s Valmond? Lylatt thought before spotting the remaining two cloaked clones (the other two had vanished in a flash of light after their crash) forming a hovering curtain behind which hid the aspiring magician.
Aporia should come down when I attack him again. I should— oh that thing’s still moving. Although taking a step towards the moving Valmond, Lylatt was quick to notice the Resolute Waver spring back up, using actual dragonfly-like wings to maintain itself in the air.
The sound of Aporia’s shot followed, and Lylatt raised his shield, generating his force field once more.
Too static. Lylatt admonished himself mentally. Gotta keep moving too.
Instead of retaliating, Lylatt switched weapon from gun to sword, turned off the force field and began running towards Valmond. Behind the curtain of cloaked creatures, a small spear of lightning sped towards and hit the Resolute Waver. Following that, a metallic item circling around the machine’s body like a chain detached itself as though it had a mind of its own, opening its three whip-like ‘legs’ like a floating squid before zooming through the air and landing on Lylatt’s re-activated force field.
1025 words. Managing fine, I think. Y'all are as well it seems like, so, cheers.
