TWENTY-ONE days to make a habit--

TWENTY days of suffering through (I need to do this.)

NINETEEN failed past attempts (I don’t know if I can do this.)

EIGHTEEN “I’ll start tomorrow”s (I’ll do it later!)

SEVENTEEN “it’s a waste of time”s (I don’t think I need to do this.)

SIXTEEN disassociating moments (Am I really me? Am I really this body?)

FIFTEEN “will I even live to see the effects of this?”s (Will I be here tomorrow to continue this?)

FOURTEEN “I’ll pause life like a video-game and get back to it later, I’m just a

(THIR)TEENager, I have plenty of time to get it right.” (I’m running out of time, I could hurt myself permanently.)

TWELVE months of inconsistency (A year of “I’ll start it tomorrow”s.)

ELEVEN freak-out sessions (Am I going to die if I don’t do this? I'm such an idiot for doing this to myself.)

TEN fights in the mirror (It’s so easy for everyone else! What am I doing wrong?); Ca--

NINEs and teeth-- I need to protect them. I need to brush them... but I can't. I h--

EIGHT myself for not being strong enough to start this. (I’m too tired tonight. But I promise I’ll do it soon!)

SEVEN days in a week, just three weeks and I’ll change my life for the better. (I’m going to try to do it this time.)

SIX depressed and anxious nights (basic hygiene is a privilege of the mentally stable.)

FIVE days since my last shower, but if I do this for twenty-one days, I’ll finally make it. I need to do this, it’s

FOUR my own good, and if I think I’ll live a healthy life, then maybe I’ll make it (I really hope I make it.); My

THREE hundred day Duolingo streak is longer than this and it’s embarrassing I’ve learned Spanish more days in a row than I’ve brushed my teeth, but I’m

TWO close to give up now: So I won’t. I just have

ONE day left in my twenty-one days. I've made it so far, I can see the finish line ahead. And once I’ve created this habit, I know I’ll have

ZERO regrets.

Hi!
What an interesting, unique and beautifully crafted poem. I love the fact you've used numbers to link each line, that is really clever so well done! You explore mental health and the effects it can have upon a mindset in such a cleverly crafted way - you show the emotional impact of mental illness brilliantly but also add an optimistic twist to show that despite how you feel, or how much you want to give up there's always a route out of it - it honestly its a brilliant poem! You should definitely keep writing, especially poems like these - your skills which just get better and better.

:)

Oh my god! such a good piece of writing.

at first, when I opened this one(I mean when I saw the title and clicked it), I thought it would consist of your writing which you wrote in 21 days... but you proved me wrong. it was totally different from the one I thought at first. What was your inspiration for writing this poetry? Did you really try a 21-day challenge of creating a habit? If yes, I really want to know what is it?
this poetry work portrays the procrastination which works within ourselves, preventing us to do something. the line which I liked the most is-

(THIR)TEENager, I have plenty of time to get it right.” (I’m running out of time, I could hurt myself permanently.) it's because of its combination of thirteen and teen.

whatever, your work is really awesome. I think this is your first poetry you posted in YWS and let me tell you, you shouldn't be afraid of posting anything inYWS. this site is quite user-friendly.

overall, I couldn't find any flaws. great poetry. keep on writing

I would be thankful if we can review my poetries and chapters of my novel

Hey, thanks for the review! Yeah, this is based off of me really trying to get my own self-care under control because I really do have issues with it due to depression and anxiety, so everything within the piece is real. I wrote number thirteen like that on purpose because I wanted to lead into something, and I ended up doing similar things for other numbers as well. Thank you so much for reading and for the feedback!

welcome. one request: pls review my works. I want to receive feedback.

For a short space of time I remained at the window watching the pallid lightnings that played above Mont Blanc and listening to the rushing of the Arve, which pursued its noise way beneath. The same lulling sounds acted as a lullaby to my too keen sensations; when I placed my head upon my pillow, sleep crept over me; I felt it as it came and blessed the giver of oblivion.
