~
Clouds of white snow covering the yard
Pastel colored cubes of buildings standing against the blue sky
More like a cyan blue, the kind you see in Monet’s paintings
And sunlight pours in, just the right amount to put everyone in a good mood :)
~
Middle school girls walk past the café
With their bell bottom jeans, in groups of three or four
It’s that lucky day during winter, when there’s joy in the air
And you can’t miss going for a walk down to the frozen river with your friends
~
A strand of hair against your cheek, shining in the creamy glow
A faint smile across your face, as you sit on the vinyl sofa,
Your hands resting on the table, next to mine
As you stare out the glass panes, your mind in the moment, the calm between
~
What may the others think? Will they find out?
No, not right now. This is the moment, this is our moment
A little gift that we’ve worked towards,
Whoever is over there, how generous you must be to gift us this chance!
~
Maybe it’s all soo messed up, that we’re forever doomed
But here, next to you, nothing really matters
A glint in your eyes as you sit there, maybe you know too
Darling, how are you soo strong, in this world full of boundaries and heartbreak
~
But in our little world we are safe, this brave little world of ours
And nothing else really matters, when I hold your hand in mine, warm
You slowly turn your head and look into my eyes, your brown hair flowing down your cardigan
These days are ours, these are the days of our life
~

Hi wildflowers!
What a little lovely breath of fresh air this is! Your word choice is really what sets this little poem off, and gives it that really romantic feeling, and brings me back to the little times I had my boyfriends and romantic flings in high school! It's exciting, new, and just as you describe, it feels as if nothing else matters.
You truly convey that 'young love' feeling the deeper you go on into the poem. The tone is very warm even though you describe this taking place in the midst of a cold, snowy winter.
I don't believe I have any little nitpicks or critiques to give you, as poetry is incredibly subjective to it's authors, and this one feels so beautifully personal and intimate. My word of advice is to simply keep writing, I would love to see the type of pieces you could create and explore through with the already-sculpted writing style you have here!
Happy Valentines day and well wishes!

hello! it’s catsz here to leave a review! i hope your day is going well!! Let’s dive into it!
the title is very thoughtful. “the calm between.” for me it give sort a feeling of the calm between the past and the future, the future wars and battles and storms that will rage on.
the poem immediately sets the scene. the description of the sky is really good, and it creates strong imagery.
hah, very accurate description of middle school girls!!!
i like the subtle rhyming!!! again, the vocabulary you chose is really strong, and the words just sets something right in me. it rhymes smoothly too!
aw, the ending is so sweet! it reminds the reader how they’ve stayed strong even when everything was falling apart.
i like at the end you remind us that the days are ours to control and ours to live. That’s really sweet.
this poem overall is soo thoughtful and beautifully arranged. it is gentle, and tells us that we are not alone, that there’s always someone to hold your hand. stunning piece of work!!
Happy Writing, happy reviewing!!

Hello, hello!
From the start, the scene set for this poem is very nice. It's warm and immersive, good job on that!
The observations made helped push this, help to set up the scene. It was like a story was being told in short words, which was nice to see.
Towards the end, the narrator finally turns their attention to the person before them, a lover. A secret one it seems. The discriptions we received are nice, and we can see how in love our narrator is, even though they know that it probably won't last. It's a feeling most can relate to, which is a good way to lock your readers in.
When writing poems in this format, I typically try to rhyme, and so it was a little strange to read this and it didn't have that. However, what you lacked in rhyme, you made up for in rhythm. The poem flowed, much like a letter, and I didn't feel like I was stumbling through it. It was different in a good way.
I would suggest you to try prose poems. I feel like it would fit your writing style. Prose poems are written out like a letter, with paragraphs, and you don't necessarily have to rhyme, which allows you to have more details wrapped up in your poems. It would help push the story, and give you more room for these descriptions.
In the end, you wrote a lovely poem, and I enjoyed reading it! I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day/night <3!
Yours truly,
~ Taost
hiii again!!
thanks Toast, I'm glad you liked the flowing story behind my poem!
And, now you mention it, I think I should actually try out writing these prose poems. Thanks for making me discover this possibility

Anytime!
Hi wildflowers! This poem is really wonderful. I love how you start by describing the mood of the surroundings in beautiful detail, and then zoom into the narrator’s “brave little world” I wish you would’ve given as much descriptions about the narrator and their relationship with this person as you did in the first two stanzas, but their emotions come across. I’m obssesed with your last line,
“These days are ours, these are the days of our life” is such a perfect end. The poem feels really intense and sentimental, about youth and first love. I read this manga recently “Classmates” by Asumiko Nakamura, and your poem had the same kind of intensity, which I really love. Please keep writing!
(p.s. It has been a long time since I last wrote a review, hope you find it helpful in some way!)
heyy redcarnation!
Well, it's great to hear you liked my work! The Queen song 'These are the days of our lives' is actually part my inspiration for writing this poem <3
Woah, I should try out some manga as well! soo cool

Hi! I’m ApatheticPurple, or just Purple.I’m here to leave a review.
This is a pretty cool poem. I really like how you sort of set the stage in the beginning, the descriptions of the scenery and atmosphere. Very vivid, love the details. Feels like the cafe and Monet reference gives it an artsy flare too. The romantic turn with the person narrating, sitting together on the vinyl sofa with the hands close, I think was executed nicely. I was pleasantly surprised by the next verse and this indication that this might be, on some level, a forbidden love type of situation, with the “what will others think?” questions, and the “maybe we’re doomed” part. That’s a good way to spice it up, and add more impact to that confident and romantic ending.
If I have to make any recommendations, I guess it’d be with small things. Like “glowing against the creamy glow” felt a little strange to read, because it’s two uses of “glow” so close together. Also, one line says “whoever who’s over there” which feels like a typo, maybe you meant just “whoever”? Finally, I noted that there’s a little typo in “maybe it’s all so messed up”, and it says “soo” instead of “so”.
Overall, I think you did good here. Nice job. 👍
heyy Purple,
I'm glad you liked the little details from my poem! Really means a lot to me <3
And thanks for the suggestions. I'll correct them =D
