Do not look at me and cry

I'm not here, I cannot lie

But I am the mournful song of the crow

And the diamond shining on the snow

I am the pitter patter of the rain

And the ice on the window pane.

When you go to bed at night,

I am the gentle glowing light

I am a weeping willow tree

And the little wave upon the sea.

I am the highest notes in a song

And the tears of a child when he's done wrong

So do not look at me and cry

Spread your wings and learn to fly.

There are several things
1. Who is this person?
2. They have quite a strong self esteem.
3. But at the same time, I perceive a bit of weakness in this person's execution.

Your writing is quick and to the point. I appreciate this. You did drivel a bit (as I can find simpler ways to do many things), but overall, I believe for what you set out to do, you did. Although, did you not say this was a poem from three years ago? I assume you did a bit of work on it. If you did not, your powers of editing were incredible at a young age. Anyway, your work is done well, even despite a bit of confusion (see above to numerically ordered list) on my part. Thanks for your time and talent.
Keep writing!

I love the metaphors throughout this piece, they help me visualise what you are talking about. The rhyming also flows nicely! My favourite part was probably 'I am the highest notes in a song and the tears of a child when he's done wrong'. There are so many ways this piece could be interpreted which makes it one of my favourite poems I've read so far! To me, personally, I see themes of self-awareness, identity, growing up, finding new things, accepting yourself for who you are, not mourning for a dead one (rather rejoicing in the time they lived) and the idea that a person lives forever- not in body but in memories, hearts and moments. Thank you for sharing this gem with us all!

Hey there, WeirdBookworm!

I read your poem and i have to say everything is wonderful and perfect! Nothing else I can say beside good job and well done.

Lets go on with the poem actually...Sorry for this thing I am not really good with reviews and looking for grammar errors but I found that yours is just well written and organize. I can't find an error actually.

Anyway lets talk about the poem itself shall we? I found this interesting and i can appreciate how you write it even though its short. Not really short. Just the average way to write a simple poem. But seriously it gave a deep meaning! And even me was really amuse and surprise by this poem!

I think you are like telling us or describing a person or yourself right? I think? Because the title said so. And speaking of titles...I found your title fitting to the poem itself, I mean yeah it was short but it was really catchy and can get other people interested and read your poem. Mostly for a poem, one of the most important part is the title and you don't need for longer ones because serious it would ruin the poem. I like to say is, yours is perfect. Just like I said earlier.

It's like you are expressing something about people own attitude and what's on people mind right? Right? But if its not. Dont worry ignore me. It's not really a cliche one but it just one simple, beautiful poem. How many times I even mention beautiful on this review? It's like your poem tends to express feelings of a person like sorrow or something like that. Also I think its like encouraging yourself to be positive and just act yourself?

Every words in your poem, I found it all as my favorite. I just thought the rhyme is also good! 10 out of 10! I really appreciate this and i hope more people can appreciate this.

So anyway that's all i wanna say for now. I can't find anything bad to say about this. I just can't find it. But i just want to say keep this up and continue writing good poems that can relate to people and help people!

Why thank you, you're so kind! Your interpretation of the meaning was on point and I'm really happy you liked it. Anyway thank you xxx

You are welcome!

Hi there! Maheen here for a review!

Excuse my punctuation, I am too lazy to use punctuations even in a review.

I would start off by saying that personally I love poems which are short but have a deep hidden message in them. So, I really like this one.

A lot of people tend tow rite poems here, and you see poems are quite popular on the YWS, most of the top literary works everyday consist of poetry. However, I personally have some issues. No offence everyone rocks here, but poems tend to linger on the same thing mostly. If not exactly the same, still close. That is depression, hopelessness, crying, killing, sorrows etc. A poem tends to speak more in less words than the long long extracts. So, I think they should be used to convey more useful and good messages.

So, this is something I really appreciate about your poetry that it does not go with the usual cliche type but gives the new light to the variety of the topics that can be used to write upon. It spreads a positive idea of learning to help yourself instead instead of depending on others. It also supports one of my favourite quotes:

''There will always be someone to catch you if you fall, if not, you will learn to fly''

So, I guess that's it. I don't find anything to criticize or sth that I personally think can be improved here. Best of luck with this and keep writing!

Wow thank you so much for the lovely review Maheen!
I completely agree with your thoughts on poetry although i do like a sad poem now and then. I'm really happy you got the message of my writing too.
