Realistic Eye (I Tried :)) ***UPDATE!

I spent two hours on this, following a tutorial. How is it? I only used HD pencil XD couldn't find any others.

Hope you enjoyed! Leave a like, or maybe a review?

Have a fantastic day!

hey! :]

I've reviewed some of your art before, and this is an excellent second attempt at an eye! They are difficult to do with realism since there are so many components to understand before you start drawing. The structure of the eye here seems like you've studied it though; the radiating lines from the pupil give depth and make the iris look natural. The pupil is well-proportioned, and it's eye-catching right in the middle, yet it doesn't draw attention away from the iris. They don't need to be *perfectly* round either, and I think it's natural that it isn't a proper circle.

You’ve used a range of light and dark shades, and that is always useful for drawing realism. That complements the smooth shading around the eye socket, which then helps create a three-dimensional look. The undereye especially has depth because of the creases in the bags. From a side profile, the eyes do come off / away from the face, so having depth is very realistic. Some eyes are more football shaped--e.g. people with certain eye disorders may have that--but that's only a concern if you aren't drawing eyelids and just the socket.

The lashes look a bit uniform in length and direction though, and most people don't have controlled eyelashes. Real lashes vary more in spacing / thickness / angle, and they also tend to curve and taper at the ends. Upper lashes grow upward and curve outward, but as they move toward the corners of the eye, they fan out at different angles. Lower lashes are thinner, shorter, and more downward-facing with less curve; the current ones are anatomically correct, but I'd suggest that you could go over them again to make them bolder and stand out. You could start thicker at the base near the eyelid, and then let the stroke fade into a thin point at the tip.

If you want to embrace realism more, you could add a highlight to the pupil as well. There is a highlight already, but it's off-center and unclear where the light source is. The up and to the right angle feels unnatural with the position of the eye, and it's not distinct what the reflected object is. In realism, all of those little unimportant details become important! I'd suggest that you darken the area around the current highlight to give it a glossier appearance, and possibly you could rethink where the lighting is coming from / what it is a reflection of.

I'm happy to see another artist; I hope this helps!

Thanks for your tips! I used only HD pencil, and it was hard to darken the lashes and everything, but when I get better pencils, I can try! Thanks for your review :D

Also, I would love to see your art too!!!

you can see some of it here: art, maybe ^^

The iris here looks amazing! You did a great job, Cats.

Thanks so much! I really appreciate your review :D

WOAHHH YOU'RE STARTING TO MAKE ME FEEL INSECURE OF MY OWN ARTT!! It reminds me of gel art! I love it so much, its more realistic than of I were to look in a mirror. You have some serious skills. Also, all of that shading with only HD pencils??!! That's crazy!!! You remind me of one of those tutorials where they start off with a line and you blink and it turns into that. But I don't know if you can tell, but I am a HUGE fan of your art. Stay amazing and keep up the amazing work!

Love, Hop

Thanks so much! You are one of my fav people on YWS!!! And one of my biggest supporters :D I really appreciate it! I can't even put into words how much I thank you :D I bet your art is pretty good too, you can post it on here, I'll be glad to review :) I did follow a tutorial on youtube, it turned out much better than mine XD
THANKS SO MUCHHHHHH
I hope you can post some of your work as well, I'll LOVE to review them!!! Thanks again,

Unfortunately I can't right now because my laptop broke so I can only use my tablet ToT ( my parents won't let me have yws on my phone) I haven't been able to post any new work since may!!!!

That is so sad! I hope you can write soon!
