12+ Violence

In Crumpled Letters

Dear favorite Ex-lover, You made me feel like no other

“You’re just different”, That’s what you’d say

You made me believe that I was the best one, that I had to stay.

And as days passed, we made it to 3 weeks.

But you had gotten caught up with the police…

So we split, it was your way of protecting me.. You had left, and abandoned everything

But I said I'd wait. I swore I would.

And you said be patient. I understood.

So I sat as the hours went by. Not a single day left without me texting your number good-bye.

Days turned to weeks. Weeks turned to months.

Your cousin came to me, saying, “I’m sorry, he’s gone.”

That day I didn’t cry. My week was made worse.

And that just happened to hurt..

I couldn't help, I had asked why,

She looked at me blankly and she simply said…..

Suicide.

I learned a lesson, I’ll never like to take,

but my mind says I should, Just for my sake.

I’ll never wait. Not again.

Cause the last time I did.. I made someone feel like a bad friend.

I made them feel forgotten. And I know that hurt.

So I'll never wait. Not again.

Cause what if I misunderstood?

What if he’s still out there? What if I’m just lost?

What if I'm dreaming? What if he’s actually gone.

If he is, it won’t happen again, I let my guard down and I lost him,

It isn’t fair, I know that now,

But it’s okay, For Tears hurt,

And My heart burns, The thought of him is like a curse,

But I’ll survive, Cause he saved me twice,

So I’ll wait for my time, To reunite.

It may never happen, It may never arrive,

And that’s okay, Cause then I’ll cry,

I’ll sit on my floor, Let the tears run wild,

I’ll listen to the rain,

His favorite time, Midnight,

I’ll wait for midnight, Everyday I won’t sleep without telling him good night,

And if I don’t, Lord behold,

I’ll lose my chance to ever let go.

Isn’t it sad? You never know,

One second they're here, The next… You’re all alone.

It was my fault.. Head to toe.

Alright, so, correct me if I'm wrong, but you lost someone to suicide, and blamed yourself for it. That's the main theme I got from this. But this story/poem is interesting. Overall, no criticisms I can make about it. I'm sorry for your loss, but don't blame yourself. I hope you've managed to recover after writing this.

You're pretty much on point. I had someone who committed. It's been several years since then. This poem was originally written about a month after to help organize my thoughts process and feelings. I'm much better now, of course his family and I mourn him still, but all is well.

`Hi there! I'm reviewing using the YWS S'more Method today!

Hi, I'm Charlie, I'm going to be reviewing your poem!

Top Graham Cracker - What I Know
Well i gotta say i really liked this poem. It coveys a lot of emotion i noticed.

Slightly Burnt Marshmallow - Room for Improvements
I don't see any room for improvement.

Chocolate Bar - Highlights of the Piece
So, I really like the rhyme scheme, It makes this poem really catchy and makes me wanna read it over and over again. Let's not forget to mention this conveys so much emotion.

Closing Graham Cracker - Closing Thoughts
I really liked this poem but if there is one extra thing I'd like to say is, it's not your fault, it's really not your fault so please don't blame yourself. ^^

That's all, i hope you have a good day/night :)

I thank you for writing this. This poem is an awfully sensitive one, and I know the topic is rough. It's been a few years since this poem was written, I just thought the emotion was realistic and I didn't originally plan on posting it. I don't typically share poetry this harsh, it's like a punch to the gut honestly, but I feel some aspects of it needed to be shared. Awareness was the big thing.

Everything has to be taken on trust; truth is only that which is taken to be true. It's the currency of living. There may be nothing behind it, but it doesn't make any difference so long as it is honoured. One acts on assumptions. What do you assume?
