I can't push for much longer.
We no longer have the strength to see.
Awareness has drifted into the muted, numb, clamor of infinity.
The Cosmos drifts lazily as light, energy and fire curl and weave through time.
The silence firmly presses against itself, sealing everything in vacuum, sticking to every surface.
Gah! fucking shitfuck!
I stand in the middle of the plain, firing at the lumbering beast as it charges at me in full rage. Its too late to run and my pistol certainly isn't going to pull off any miracle. I've accepted my fate but I refuse to make Death's job easy. Another couple of seconds and the bear will be tearing me to shreds. I empty a second clip, quickly reload and continue aiming for the head.
I hadn't realized the beast had been tracking me until it was too late and now my journey of touchy-feely self discovery was coming to a hunger-fueled bear raging end.
As soon as it was in range it covered the final 10 feet with a single leap, landing with a dull crunch, crushing my insides. I attempted to cover my face and push away its foaming jaws, but it effortlessly swatted my arms off of my body with a few simple smacks.
Eventually I lost all feeling below my neck and the horror and pain of being mauled to death and eaten alive faded to warmth, bliss and fuzziness as the blood slowly drained from my mind.
As the last few moments of my life played out before me, I found myself captivated in the beauty of the animal as it tore at my flesh and gnawed my bones. Together the sunlight and the angle I was lying at painted the bear's fur with robust umbers and rugged browns. Pitch black shadows played with the flashes of my crimson blood that dripped from the beast's muzzle
.
In the brief moment of eye contact the bear gave a slight pause. I could sense a renewed vigor and energy emanating from her as my own life force waned. But somehow despite the situation something in me managed to chuckle. Though at this point all a chuckle amounted to was a bloody gurgle as my lungs had most likely collapsed, which probably explained why the breathing thing wasn't working so well any more.
Regardless I continued to laugh, almost uncontrollably, the pain of it all was slowly returning in waves, but as I continued to realize that this was truly it, I let the laughter consume my soul.
