The power of escape

PreviousNext

You know the feeling you get when everything feels hopeless?
That sinking feeling deep in your chest that never seems to lift, no matter how many times you may smile, laugh or have a good time?

That's called sadness. Sadness is a disease. It will drag you down with it's cold, clammy hands and pull you into it's house. It's house is called depression. Depression is a cold, dark place. No light ever reaches the windows, and happiness is chased by the devils of self loathing and demise. These devils like to toy with you. They run around your feet and trip you up, laugh at you and call you names. They point fun at you and snicker and just make you feel like absolute  crap.

But out of all of these things, the very worst part of it all is that you can't get out. Not a lot of the time. If you fight Sadness, then you have a chance of escape. But if it drags you into the deepest part of the Depression house, then you're gone. Only a very brave soul can venture into Depression house and drag you out. Sadness will not like this, I can assure you. He will try to fight the Brave One and sometimes,  it can be such a disease that even the Brave One falls. He/she trips on the little demons and despite all the efforts, your Sadness claims another victim.

But, here's the thing. If you have escaped from the Depression house, then you know it's secrets. Sadness disease has poisoned you, and sometimes you can feel it's pull, trying to drag you back. But you know the secrets. You know how to get out. You can be the Brave One and go in to Depression house and save others who have been tainted by Sadness disease. Sometimes this can be hard. Sometimes this can be very scary, as you know the deep dark horrors that lurk within Depression house. But never forget, you have escaped. You've got out once, you can get out again. You can help people get out. Never forget you have that power to help people out of Depression house, to help rid people of the Sadness disease.

No matter how scary it can be, no matter how worried you may be. Never forget that you have that power to get out.
It's up to you now. Save others. You can do it

Hi there!

Its scary, this topic has some bonds with in it that scares me because in this generation sadness and depression are such common things that people around us take it easily but who's suffering from this time knows better how it'll eat you slowly and painfully. You're absolutely right that its a disease which takes person down with it and it takes a lot of courage and bravery to drag yourself away from it and not every person is that much brave.

Depression house? Apt. The courage your last paragraph is radiating is very good, I like the way you make sure of making it very realistic and you've also bundled up into an advice also. All and all I liked it a lot. Keep writing, thank you.

Hmm, as someone who knows how it feels like to be stuck inside that house. I can say that this is pretty much how it feels like, being drag down that bottomless pit is like hell in its own way. Though i don't understand some of it like 'not alot of the time' what do you mean by that?. Anyway, you pictured it nicely. This is good keep up the good work, hope to read more from you.

I really like this extended metaphor. I like the imagery of the little devils tripping the people in the house. The last line is also very powerful, like a message to go do good in the world. I can't really see anything wrong with this passage, it is a very well written piece. This gives me a good look into the life of someone who has depression (as someone who doesn't have depression). This is a very powerful piece and I encourage you to keep writing dramatic pieces like this!

Thank you very much :)
