I keep a notebook open
to the quiet hours of the day—
a place where dust motes drift
like unhurried thoughts,
where the clatter of the city
softens into something almost kind.
Here, even the smallest things
learn to speak:
a chipped mug,
a cold window,
the faint hum of a neighbour’s radio.
I write them down
to see what I’ve been missing—
to remind myself
that the world is still whispering,
even when I forget to listen.

This is cute. I was immediately drawn to both the title and the description; it reminds me of when you have just woken up, and nobody else is up yet, so you sit in bed, with the window slightly open, writing down your thoughts onto a page whilst listening to the sweet birdsong. At least, this is what I do hehe. I like your writing style because it is very conversational, yet still readable. Poetic in its simplicity. I hope you continue to write more like this, because it is very soothing. Have a good night
Hello. I'm hop! Nice to meet you! I'm sorry I'm not going all out for this review. I'm really tired and not in the best spot right now. I still want to review but I don't think I'm capable to do full reviews like usual. Anyways, let's get to the short review>>>>
This poem is really quiet in a peaceful way. Not that it doesn't make a statement--because it does. I just really like how it has that little cozy feeling to it. I also really like how you got your point across with it being a "short" poem.
I really like the last stanza as well. It really made me get reminded of all of the little things that I swore I would remember but have forgotten now. I know that sounds really weird how I'm randomly bringing that up and it probably doesn't make any sense and now you probably think I'm crazy for rambling lol
Anyways, I'm sorry this was so short. I really just need to get my crap together. By the way, welcome to YWS! I'm sorry I'm so dry, I swear I'm not always like this. I think you have amazing talent and you should definitely continue publishing these amazing poems. You truly did an amazing job.
Hope you feel welcomed here <333
Love,
Hop
P.S. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me <3
Thanks for your kind word of encouragement.
Hello, My Friend!
Hiya! I saw this poem appear in the Green Room, and thought I'd give it a review!
To start, I absolutely love the idea and the concept of this poem! It feels so peaceful and inspires me to be more aware of my environment, especially the little things ~
As far as recommendations for improvement, well, I have none! This was great!
For my favorite parts, hm...I would go with this:
I like how you started with this, because it promotes a very positive habit, just as the title implies! Keeping a journal is great for keeping you grounded physically, mentally, emotionally, sometimes even spiritually depending on the context ~
I love this verse! Especially that you drew attention to what we would recognize as little annoyances or inconveniences, like the chip in the mug or the white noise from the radio. It may be irksome, but at least it's real. It's nice to just make notes and be aware of these things, in such a digital age.
And a great way to sum it all up, that so nicely drives the message home!
Overall, this was great! Nicely done!
"They who dream by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who dream only by night."
"Words have no power to impress the mind without the exquisite horror of their reality.”
"I would define, in brief, the poetry of words as the rhythmical creation of Beauty."
Wow, thanks so much.
Hi! great poem! Noticing the small things is one of life's pleasures. You did very well with paragraph spacing, ensuring that each paragraph is even. you also do well with punctuation, adding things not commonly used, like lines and colons. a bit of constructive criticism, even though some words are in the same sentence, I feel as though every line should begin with a capital letter. other than that, this poe
Thank you so much.
I%u2019m glad the attention to small details came through. And thanks as well for the note about capitalization. I%u2019ve seen both approaches used in contemporary poetry, but I will experiment with that in the future.
