It's not that my days are notably empty, but your absence is everywhere. It lingers indefinitely in every note in every song, every sleepless night, every resounding laugh. Supposedly time is a healer - yet I feel only part of me has healed, and the rest worsened. I no longer pine regularly and it is not a constant heart-wrenching tug on my insides or anything; time took that away in its ever-changing winds long ago. What I do however feel, is something much more of a numb sensation. Familiarity. It's a feeling I know tragically well, something that is not physical nor easy to verbalize. It is a buried longing, a dark and aloof tunnel that never seems to end. I occasionally trip and fall - some days are worse than others. Yet, this is not a pain in which is capable of driving one to reckless activities, or life-threatening dead ends. It's just... there. A quiet room. Neverending. Sickening. Comforting. A bane. A reminder that you were - that you ever were. If I have to feel this any longer, I feel I might disappear.

This is incredible. I really do love it! In just this paragraph, you had me feeling what the narrator felt. I relate so much, and I know that I do because you described the feelings and emotions with incredible specificity and accuracy. I love this. Honestly. I would LOVE to see it extended into a longer narrative of some sort!

Time to get a little technical:
"it's not that my days are notably empty, but your absence is everywhere." I understand what you are trying to say, but it doesn't really flow for me as the first sentence should. Maybe rephrase it, so that I understand right from the get-go that it's not that you notice the emptiness, but the absence of the subject. It took me a minute to comprehend that at first!
"I no longer pine regularly and it is not a constant heart-wrenching tug on my insides or anything..." COMMA between regularly and and!
"What I do however feel, is something much more of a numb sensation." Try taking out the however, the comma, and the something much. "What I do feel is more of a numb sensation" is less clunky, and gets to the point. The comma isn't in the right spot, anyway!
I am so sorry if my comma obsession is irritating you, because I don't want it to detract from the fact that I LOVE. THIS PIECE. SO MUCH. Can't wait to see new stuff from you!
Keep writing!
Emily
Aw wow, thank you so much! That really means a lot to me, super glad you like it
no honestly it's cool, I appreciate all your feedback! I definitely need to have a little comma lesson with myself haha. Thank you, anything to make my writing better is something I appreciate and will take on board. Thank you again!
Welcome to YWS! Lucrezia here for a review.
Wow. This is very beautiful, hauntingly so. The choice of wording was spot-on. It was chalked full of emotion, this piece, and heartache. You conveyed that very well.
I would suggest breaking it up into a few paragraphs, not only so that it's more "correct," technically speaking, but also so that it would look more dramatic. For example, those last few lines would make even more impact on the reader if it was spaced out a bit. Such as:
See how that looks? (Also, the "feel" at the end there is a bit repetitive.)
Otherwise, I have no real nitpicks or suggestions. This is quite beautiful, as I said. And very well-written.
Well done and keep up the good work!
Wow, thank you! That really means a lot. Now that you've said that I totally know what you mean - great advice. It didn't even occur to me to consider the actual positioning. Thanks again!
You'll learn a lot of tricks from the wonderful people here, and I'm sure that you'll have some to pass on as well!
I agree with Lucrezia when she said "This is very beautiful, hauntingly so. The choice of wording was spot-on. It was chalked full of emotion, this piece, and heartache. You conveyed that very well."
Your piece is relateable, which is excellent. I know that numbness well.
Please keep writing and sharing with us!

Most definitely! I really appreciate any feedback I can get. Thank you very much, your opinion is very highly valued. I'm sorry that you can relate because it's not something I would wish on anybody, but hey I guess us writers have to get our ideas from somewhere! Thank you.
How very true!
