I am not much of a poet but just gathered up some courage and wrote this.
Cold winds adorn the beautiful winter mornings,
Happiness in the air,
Celebrations aloud,
But I sit here numb,
Tears have dried up,
Fears have lost its charm,
My heart still mourns over the loss,
About the day my hopes and dreams went for a toss,
Didn’t I love you with all I had?
But,
You chose to leave me behind and move on,
You chose to break your promise,
I feel like a corpse now,
Pretending, pretending, pretending,
You killed me with your words,
All I do now is, wait for death.
All I want now is, ultimate silence.
As darkness creep into my world,
I close my eyes with pain,
Thinking of you and your unkept promise.

Wow. This poem is brilliant! I love how it starts out peaceful, happy even with:
"Happiness in the air,
Celebrations aloud"
and how it quickly takes a turn for the dark... just wow. It gave me chills. But the best line in my opinion was
"You killed me with your words"
It really makes a powerful statement about how words, while they have the ability to bring about goodness (i.e. a promise) they also have a potential for destruction.
All in all, very well thought out and precisely written. I hope you write more poetry similar to this. I'm very impressed.
Hey Wallflower16

Thankyou so much for reviewing this.
I'm more than happy to know that you liked it.
Feels great
I love this part of your poem
"But I sit here numb,
Tears have dried up,
Fears have lost its charm,
My heart still mourns over the loss,
About the day my hopes and dreams went for a toss,
Didn’t I love you with all I had?
But,
You chose to leave me behind and move on,
You chose to break your promise,"
As I read it i then understood what you where saying and I know that love can heart but it does not matter because at least your falling in love or trying to find something that you can say is yours and no matter heart broken or not it's the love you have that matters
Thanks Jade
Well I understand Jade, I know what ultimately matters is love.
But when you love someone with everything you have, maybe a crush, and you are fine with how things are and your expectations aren't that high. But one fine day, your crush comes and tells you he/she feels the same for you. You are surprised. You keep worrying if its true or not but the way he/she assures you, you are satisfied.
Then one fine day, he/she tells you to move on and forget everything because of a few practical reasons, you become numb.
Its like being given your favourite thing which you wanted for so long, but cannot keep it.
Unfair right?
You say that you're not much of a poet, but you did really well with this. I really liked this line :
'Thinking of you and your unkept promise.'
That line is really good, since it's basically the title of the poem, and what the poem really is about. Also, this part was really good.
'Didn’t I love you with all I had?
But,
You chose to leave me behind and move on,'
The pain of having only you giving out love in the relationship was expressed really well, and I could understand the pain this person is going through. So yeah, this was a great poem. Continue writing poems like these, I'll keep reading.
Hey PH

Yeah, that is exactly what I wanted to convey. The pain of being left behind for the so called practical reasons in life, how all that can shatter a person.
I am glad that you liked it and yes, do keep reading
Yeah, I will work on more poems for sure.
Thankyou!
Well done! I must say you have done well, especially seeing as this is your first poem. This poem's main strength is in it's rhythm. It is steady and consistent, except for the points where you wish to grab the readers attention. The last line, " thinking of you and your unkept promise." is by far your best. It introduces the meaning of the title, and sums up the poem.
Hope this helps,
Take That You Fiend!
Thanks alot mate
Yeah this is my first poem here and I am happy that you liked it.
The last line is my favourite too %u2665
Thanks once again!
Your welcome!
hi there

so , first i wanna say that your work is amazing , it's touchy , meaningful.
and that you should keep writing poems , cause you're good in that .
1-i liked the starting of your poem very much :
"Cold winds adorn the beautiful winter mornings,
Happiness in the air,
Celebrations aloud,
But I sit here numb,
especially the first sentence , i mean lots of writers start their poems with descriptions , but they don't know how to make it attractive . but your beginning is great ,but i think that you need to write a catchy end , maybe using the same way that you start your poem with , with some imagery , yeah , it wil add a beautiful touch to your poem .
2-this line didn't work for me , it didn't flows good :
"Pretending, pretending, pretending, "
for me you did a good job , writing poems is hard , and need practise , and if you keep writing , you'll be a skilful poet .
so keep it up
smile
Hey Smile

I love your name!
I am glad that you liked it and got the meanings well.
You liked the beginning? Wow. Thanks.
Yeah I will work with the ending.
By pretending, I meant that nothing seems real anymore, that life has become all fake.
Oh, it breaks the flow maybe.
I will keep your points in mind and definately practise more.
Thankyou
you're welcome
