I’m from classic rock music playing on the radio.

I’m from Metallica, Poison, and Gun’s N Roses

From the wailing guitars, thumping bass,

And vocals screaming at me from the speakers.

I’m from the Eagles, Creed, and Def Leppard

Keeping me calm when times get tough.

Quietly wiping away my tears

And holding my hand through once in a lifetime experiences

I’m from Bon Jovi, Leonard Skynyrd, and AC/DC

Being there for my first day of kindergarten,

First week of high school,

And first semester of college.

I’m from Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, and Motley Crue

Telling me it is okay to be myself.

And reminding me of my friends, parents,

And all the good memories of my life.

Hey there! I loved this poem and I'm here to review it!

The poem comes across as a heartfelt tribute to the role that classic rock music has played in your life. I love how you interpreted the theme of 'where i'm from' to mean music as I definitely would have written about my town or family or something boring.

One of my favourite aspects of the poem was the use of specific bands and their iconic songs to capture the emotions and experiences that have been important to you. The use of bands such as Metallica, Poison, and Guns N Roses creates a vivid and nostalgic image of the 80s and 90s, or someone who grew up listening to their parents music, a time when classic rock music was at its peak. The repetition of the phrase "I'm from" also gives the poem a rhythmic quality that mirrors the beat of the music.

In terms of feedback, one suggestion would be to perhaps include more sensory details to evoke the experience of listening to the music. For example, you could describe the smells, sights, and sounds or the feel of the music vibrating through the body when you listened to them during heard times.

Overall, the poem offers a personal and moving tribute to the power of music to inspire, console, and connect.

Keep writing!

Thank you for your review! Kind of writing this as a tribute to classic rock music is exactly what I was going for. I definitely appreciate the suggestion to include more sensory details and can see how this may improve the writing poem some and will probably edit this to add another stanza to include some of these details. Thank you :)

Hello there!

I really like how you wrote this poem and even though I think I wouldn't be able to give an actual helpful review, I still would like to express my amazement for this poem that you wrote because it is simply delightful. The way you tackled the theme of "where I'm from" is unexpected and unique, and I like that you wrote it that way. Centering your poem around music and how it affected you as a person, enough that you made it into this poem about where youre from, is really sweet and touching. Also, the title is really clever.

I wish you luck for your class. I hope you'll do well because this is honestly amazing.

Bye~

Thank you for the review :) I wasn't too sure of the title at first and I'm glad to hear that you liked it!

That's how we should measure our lives. Not in distance traveled, or time passed, or worlds conquered, but in moments... and the rush of joy—of grace—that exists within them.
