I had a dream,
Where the darkness sapped me of all life.
The solitude, the social uprooting,
It consumes you.
I eat, I think, I write.
I fuel myself with nutrients,
I dream the deepest dreams,
I take my pen and plunge it into depths.
You consume yourself.
I question,
Do I have memories to conjure dreams?
Is it all buried deep within?
What do you do,
When you are darkened by blackest light,
With no dreams to cling to?
The universe answers with an odd parable.
Love is but a fleeting memory,
Something to remember only in the midst of lightless walls.
Move from task to task,
Take another life, dedicate your craft.
When I sleep, I still see her.
The bright sun is extinguished,
And the stars,
Did wander in eternal space.
Lights dancing in the sky unbothered.
I crook my neck staring up,
Yet they stare down at me effortlessly.
Maybe that is what a dream is.

Hi there! I'm here to review your lovely poem. I hope that's okay
I really relate to this poem. The overall theme reflects the really agonising and solitary struggle of the artist, which I, and I'm sure others, can relate to as writers. The speaker is unravelling under the weight of grief and has to, in turn, consume their own pain to turn the existential dread and darkness into creation. You handle this metaphor really well throughout.
As for my favourite part:
I just love the 'I eat, I think, I write' because, well, that's me every day (a part from I would have to add, I'm forced to go to work XD)
OO A Byron reference?? This just makes the poem even better. I love Byron! This reference bridges personal grief with a sort of cosmic apocalypse. It makes it that much more impactful. I think to improve it, you could have played around with Byron's words, weaving them in between your own, just owing him a reference instead of directly quoting him.
Keep on writing!
